A cookbook on the topic of fasting may sound like an oxymoron, but this eating plan modeled in the biblical account of the life of Daniel, often called a Daniel Fast, is actually loaded with fresh, delicious, health-promoting foods. The Daniel Fast Made Delicious includes more than 175 recipes, many of which are 100 percent gluten free and dairy free. Filled with easy instructions, simple steps, spiritual inspirations, and interesting food facts and figures, these Daniel Fast recipes are as nourishing to the soul as they are to the body.
John and Ann Marie Cavazos created these recipes while serving on the staff of their Central Florida church when they realized that people were simply starving on carrot sticks every time the church held a Daniel Fast, instead of enjoying the variety of delicious, healthy foods that were originally intended to be part of this ancient eating plan.

My wife and I were looking for some help with dishes that would be easy, practical and delicious. I am sure the dishes in this book are delicious, but that is all. They are complicated and contain ingredients that are not easily available for us. I do not understand why many contain pumpkin, leeks, lintels, Asian, African, Eastern foods and other things not common for us. To me the book just discourages us from the fast, instead of encouraging us with simple and delicious foods.

Our church does a Daniel Fast every January and I've seen the changes it makes in people. My own pastor's wife started the Fast last January and just kept going with it. She says that through it God helped her deal with some real bondage issues with food in general and by July she was like a different person (1/2 the person she was before). It is amazing to see! This cookbook is designed for someone that already knows what the Daniel Fast is all about and what it consists of. This is just to help you with some wonderful variety while you do it. They actually have ways to help you make this a lifestyle instead of just a 21, 30 or 40 day thing. I think that is great. They have found ways to make vegetables yummy, and delicious. In fact some of you have probably not even heard of some of these vegetables (I was thrilled to see an eggplant parmesan recipe in there!). I see this book as a must have companion to making the Daniel Fast successful in your life.

In addition, for anyone embarking on a fast any where from 3 days to 40 days, this recipie book is invaluable. The recipies are easy to follow and make. I have tried several recipies already and day are delicious. I would love to see this played on a cooking network.
This is a great book.
Q: How many vegetable dishes? these pictures look great!!! Does these dishes take long to prepare? Can you prepare these dishes in advance? How long can they be stored? Are the ingredients readily available? I have a grandchild, do you think he would enjoy these dishes? I am looking forward to owning the Daniel Fast Made Delicious. Thank you for your response.
Most of the recipes in this cookbook are easy to prepare and use ingredients that are readily available. Storage time and the ability to prepare in advance would largely depend on the ingredients in the recipe. Many of the soups, sides and pasta dishes could easily be prepared ahead of time. There are fruit, pasta, sweet potato, and squash recipes which would appeal to young children.
