John and Ann Marie Cavazos created these recipes while serving on the staff of their Central Florida church when they realized that people were simply starving on carrot sticks every time the church held a Daniel Fast, instead of enjoying the variety of delicious, healthy foods that were originally intended to be part of this ancient eating plan.
Most of the recipes in this cookbook are easy to prepare and use ingredients that are readily available. Storage time and the ability to prepare in advance would largely depend on the ingredients in the recipe. Many of the soups, sides and pasta dishes could easily be prepared ahead of time. There are fruit, pasta, sweet potato, and squash recipes which would appeal to young children.
