Publisher's Description

Dangerous prayers happen when we turn our all over to God and offer ourselves as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1). They don’t take us to a comfortable, easy place. They test us, stretch us, and take us where we wouldn’t have chosen. They change not only our lives but the lives of other people. Join gifted speaker and award-winning author, Cheri Fuller, as she illustrates—from Bible times to today—what happens when God’s people pray dangerous prayers. Each of the 21 chapters is rooted in scripture and weaves together a beautiful tapestry of lives and kingdoms impacted through the power of prayer.

Its been years since Ive read one of Cheri Fullers excellent books on prayer, and Dangerous Prayer was a welcome discovery. Interesting, inspirational but most of all, this collection just might prompt your thinking or cause you to reconsider a quiet whisper of Gods Spirit.

Cheri writes in the introduction that dangerous prayers start when we turn our efforts over to the Lord and are ready to lay down our agenda for His will. Following is a moving collection of stories about people who prayed dangerous prayers and found themselves and others used or changed in incredible ways. Prayers like . . .

God, do whatever you need to do.

    Break my heart for people.

    Lord, show me the way.

What do you want me to do?

Lord, show me whats on your heart.

Help me show ____ Your love.

Launch me, Lord, out into the deep with You . . . past all my reservations, my timidity, and my comfort zone. Whatever this means, break me fee from spiritual mediocrity.

Theres no doubt as to whom the main character is, and thats God. Its also wonderful to see the way He specifically worked in each storytellers life and to be reminded that this is the same God at work in our lives. I loved how Cheri points out that even praying the Lords Prayer God, may Your kingdom come is a dangerous prayer because youre surrendering to Gods plans and letting go of your own.

Dangerous Prayer is an inspiring and challenging book. Recommended.

Thank you to Barbour Publishing for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The book, "Dangerous Prayer" is a book of the Christian "be careful for what you pray for, it might come true, genre. Cheri Fuller's book, "Dangerous Prayer, Discovering Your Amazing Story Inside the Eternal Story of God," takes the reader through 20 life stories of individuals who had reached a point in their lives were they knew that their life needed a change. These individuals, E.M. Bounds, whose story on how prayer led her to help women in prison connect with their Children through prayer; Dannah Gresh, who prayed for her daughter and learned to "let go and let God"; as well as many other heart tugging stories. Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to enjoy the book, I found, after the first several stories an unevenness in the story line of many of the other stories of faith in this book. It was unclear whether the author ran out of examples and added stores from the Bible, as well as some stories that seemed rather disjointed. Also, it was unclear whether Cheri Fuller had indeed written all of these stories or if the life changing stories in the book were written by other people.

Again, this was a book I really wanted to like, but the unevenness of the writing in many of the stories was very irritating, So, I give this book three stars for the quality of the writing. However, I applaud those brave and courageous individuals who prayed the dangerous prayer and in doing so changed other's lives for the better.

My what intriguing title was my first thought when I saw this book.

What exactly did the author mean by a dangerous prayer?

Most of us when we go to our Lord in prayer are thankful for our many blessings and the trials that God lays on our hearts. A trial maybe the illness of a loved one or maybe situation that guidance is needed, but do we ever stop and ask what God wants us to do? Do we ever say "Whatever you need Lord" or simply "Use me!".

In this book Cheri Fuller explains what a dangerous prayer is and shares stories of people who have prayed those prayers, stepped out of their comfort zones and went on to accomplish some great works that have made a huge difference to others.

When I started reading this book I had a hard time putting it down. Each story touched my heart. Some of the stories show people stepping out on a large scale and others on a small scale. Taking the first step is the most important and then letting God lead the way. The very last chapter challenges the reader if they are ready to pray that dangerous prayer and reap the rewards of it.

A wonderful book full of insight into doing good works for God.

I would recommend this to anyone.

*I received this book from Barbour Publishing for a honest opinion without bias or outside influence as stated above.

Author Cheri Fuller begins her book Dangerous Prayer with a question: "Have you ever prayed a dangerous prayer?" She then explains that while this kind of prayer is nothing new, it needs to be rooted in the Bible and the person praying it has to turn his efforts over to God and be willing to do His will.

Fuller devotes twenty-one chapters to illustrate what can happen when God's people pray dangerous prayers. She reminds us of Hannah, who was childless until she promised in her dangerous prayer that if God would give her a child, she would willingly give that child back to Him. Hannah obeyed her prayer and gave her small son Samuel back to serve God.

Another example is the Samaritan woman at the well who asked Jesus for the Living Water that would guarantee that she would never be thirsty again. This was a very dangerous prayer because a Samaritan woman asking for help from a Jewish man was certainly taboo in that culture.

Both of these illustrations are well-known Bible stories but in this book we meet, among others, a teenager who prayed a very dangerous prayer and a seventy-six year old woman who uttered the most dangerous prayer of all: "Yes, Lord". Cheri Fuller also relates some of her own experiences praying dangerous prayers so chapter after chapter, we are shown examples of how a willing, submissive heart and a dangerous prayer can strengthen our walk with God and enable us to grow as Christians.

Bible scriptures in each chapter enhance the stories and the final chapter offers questions that will help each reader to begin to pray their own dangerous prayers and start to do what God has called them to do. I can see Dangerous Prayers being used by individuals in their personal devotions and also in Bible Study groups. Cheri Fuller has given readers a valuable resource and I highly recommend it.

I would like to thank Barbour Publishing for offering me a copy in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.
