I love this DVD so much. I previewed it after getting it and thought, oh my heavens, the children will never sit through this, because it's not actually "animated." I thought it would be boring for them. I so underestimated the power of imagination! The story is not animated, but instead pans slowly over very lovely watercolor paintings as it tells the story of Christian's journey to the Celestial City. The voices are quite dramatic and tell the story in a very gripping way. I've had it for about a month and my children (7 and 5) have probably watched it 15 times or more. It has also prompted some great discussions about God, sin, Biblical wisdom vs. worldly wisdom, etc. I have also been purchasing this and giving it as gifts. (This DVD is great for "slipping the gospel" to parents whom you suspect might be "cultural Christians"..... those who claim the name of Christ but don't display any Biblical signs of having been born again.)

In all respects, this video has been carefully created with excellence. The message captures both young and old alike and is true to the original text. I appreciate so much the availability of videos for children which depict the Christian message so beautifully.

I obtained a copy of the book "Dangerous Journey" as a teen, and so I was happy to see that a film had been created of the reading of the book. "Pilgrim's Progress" is chocked full of spiritual lessons regarding the choices and challenges every Christian will face on the way to the Celestial City.

Even though this movie is in cartoon form, it gets the point ot the Christian journey where it is understandable for people of all ages. This is good for children as well as adults who rather have a sort of "hands on" version of the book "Pilgrim's Progress."

I found the DVD to be rather scary for small children (to be honest I didn't want to look at the demons in it). We don't watch t.v. so we're not used to scary images. There are some very graphic demons and satanic creatures in this that everyone might not be comfortable with. This was a gift to us, otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. The book is probably very good. Just as the Bible didn't come in a DVD form, it could be rather scary too but our children read it and don't have a visual and do fine.
