Detective Colin Flynn isn't certain what to think of the facts he uncovers during his investigation. Did Trish simply make a terrible mistake or is there more to the case than meets the eye? As he searches for answers, disturbing information begins to emerge--and if the forces at work are as evil as he suspects, the situation isn't just dangerous . . . it's deadly.

CozyWriter'sDen4 Stars Out Of 5A good readMarch 13, 2018CozyWriter'sDenQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4If you enjoy a thrilling mystery, than Irene Hannon needs to be a staple part of your reading diet. With characters that demand your emotional investment and plots that keep you guessing, she is one of those authors you can depend upon for a good read.
"Dangerous Illusions" is part of Hannon's "Men of Valor" series. Colin Flynn is a big city detective, and he has concentrated the majority of his adult life's energy to solving crime. While he takes time for his two closest friends and the odd volunteer activity they rope him into, Colin doesn't have much of a life outside his work. While he knows he'd like to get married one day, the clock is ticking and he hasn't had the time to date - nor has any woman turned his head enough to make him even contemplate investing the time to get to know her. All of that changes when a suspicious death leads him to Trish Bailey.
Trish isn't a fellow crime fighter though...nor is she the victim. She is the prime suspect. With everything that is in him, Colin knows that Trish isn't guilty. However, knowing that in his heart and proving it are two different things all-together. As the case complicates and the stakes rise, Trish and Colin fight desperately to figure out what is all at play while dodging the wild sparks that fly between them.
Shorter than her usual works, Dangerous Illusions is a quick read but certainly enjoyable. This is a 'love at first sight' novel mixed with a seemingly predictable crime (but wait for it... there is always a twist!), but I definitely enjoyed the read. Also, I will note that this work is similar to some of Irene Hannon's earlier works in that it is a great mystery, but without the disturbingly dark twists or thoughts that some of her more recent works have. Being a rather sensitive reader, I appreciated getting the thrill of a crime story without going too deep into the evil recesses of the criminal's mind.
This book definitely belongs on your 'To-Be-Read' pile.
Thank-you to Graf Martin Communications and to Baker Publishing House for a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
BookLover165 Stars Out Of 5I couldn't put this book down!February 25, 2018BookLover16Quality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Dangerous Illusions had me holding my breath in suspense, eagerly turning each page. The plot, cloaked in mystery and danger, kept my mind racing to discover the unknowns.
The characters, Trish and Colin, are some of my favorite yet. Both have used the pain in the past to fuel their futures. And the sparks between them gave a perfect romantic lightness to combat the dark mystery.

I so much enjoyed reading this 50th Anniversary of the classic and so well written book Christy. Catherine Marshall was a master storyteller, and with this book, wrote the story about her mother, making this an even more intriguing read. In Christy, as Ms. Marshalls own mother left home at the age of 19, moving to North Carolina Mountains, so did main fictional character Christy Huddleston. Fulfilling a need in her own life, Christy gives up her own life of luxury to a life of hard labor under the most difficult of circumstances in order to do her mission.
As the Mountain people grew in Christy, so they did on my as well. They took primitive to a whole new level, the true meaning of primitive. I never knew the horrible, horrific life these people lived. At some times I had to skim over the worst of it. But this is a book everyone should read. It will sure leave you being so very thankful for what you have. These were hard people living a hard difficult life. But in the mist of it all, there was such a hunger for learning, and it was so wonderful to read this. There is so much in this book there is no way to start describing it all. So I highly recommend Christy to everyone! This is a book that everyone needs to read at least once in their lifetime! However there is one thing that is just so sad, and I cant get it off my mind. And that it, with all the death these people were forced to endure, the preacher there could not answer their questions about what happened after death. And where their loved one was now that they were gone. So sad that people hungry for answers and for the truth, they couldnt find it in the man sent there to tell them about Jesus.
I received this book from Litfuse to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance

Laura Shuck5 Stars Out Of 5A Hunky Hero Read from Irene HannonDecember 31, 2017Laura ShuckQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5Ive been reading novels by Irene Hannon for a number of years and consider myself an avid follower. Although she has written in a few different genres, it is Irene Hansons penchant for writing suspense novels that will keep the reader guessing until the final pages. Oh, and there is always a hunky hero to be found.
In Dangerous Illusions, the first in the Code of Valor series, Detective Colin Flynn works to solve a case before more people die. Trish Bailey, is front and center of the case, the accused in the recent death of her invalid mother. Having worked to clear her name, Detective Flynn begins to pursue his attraction to the beautiful Trish Bailey, albeit with careful caution as she grieves the death of her mother.
Except, whoever wanted Trish Baileys mother dead, isnt done and the Detective must put his growing feelings on hold while he pursues who killed Trish Baileys mother and why was the killer now after the woman he has begun to care about.
Twists and turns; unexpected surprises keep the reader entranced until the rather interesting turn at the end. You will never guess who is after Trish and why.
A truly enjoyable read, looking forward to the next in the series.
