Product Description

When your world turns from dreams to nightmares and forces in the spirit realm are battling for your soul, what is left to do but dance with the avatar...

Maya delves deeper into things not of God. Having given up her promising life without a single glance back, she moves to an ashram in India to worship her guru, Cha Ma-whom many believe to be an avatar of the goddess Kali.

Maya spirals deeper and deeper into a fantastical, supernatural world that is beyond her wildest dreams and worst nightmares. As an insidious web of evil weaves tightly about her, Maya sinks into greater and greater delusion-slipping between euphoric highs and suicidal lows. Maya's experiences cause her to question her beliefs and test her sanity.

On the other side of the world, after having been unwittingly tossed into the deadly battle by Maya's choice to move to India, her parents continue to face increasingly more difficult emotional, physical, and spiritual battles as they fight for Maya's life.

The stakes are high in this violent war between good and evil as heavenly angels and demonic beings strategize and battle to gain ground for the souls of Maya, her parents, and people close to them.

As Maya dabbles deeper and deeper into things not of God, the evil surrounding her threatens to overwhelm and destroy her and others. Will Maya survive in her chosen new world? Will her parents survive the warfare aimed at them because of loving her?

This review was written for Dancing with the Avatar.
Since I have "lived" a story similar to Jovan's, I was there, at the same ashram, 2 years after she left. Nothing was unfamiliar in her story. Delivered in a most astonishing way, that, I must admit, I resisted at first. Emotions; personified brilliantly, surprisingly, originally; in a way that brought me to tears several times while reading. I know the characters personally, or some exactly like Jovan so vividly describes.

I could not put it down. I put off meals to read. This is true life! For me, I was Maya, the main character, living her story. I only have one criticism, and that is, I still have to wait for yet another book, and possibly several more before I find out what happens. I cannot wait. Though, I am grateful that she and I have survived to see and know the truth and the life that Jesus brings.

It has taken me several years after leaving Ammachi, and only recently came to know Jesus and know his love and forgiveness. I am eternally greatful. Most people who follow her are in a trance and it is very difficult to leave. People feel they are following Jesus. Amma has said privatley she is like Jesus and they call her the mother of the universe, she does nothing to correct them.

There is something universal about Jovan's deeper perspective. And, indeed there are lines that should never be crossed. For any reason. No matter what the cause appears to be, and no matter how spiritual and altruistic the claims.

This book is a must read for anyone on a spiritual journey. And a must read for anyone thinking about embarking on a Pagan/new age /hindu/guru journey.

I was under "Cha Ma's", Ammachi's influence for 10 years. This book ilistrates an Important lesson for all Christians who consider turning away from Jesus on a different spiritual path.

I Thank God for you, Jovan! You were literally my only freind (though we have never met). When I realized that Ammachi was an ordinary human being, possesed and comsumed with her own ambition to glorify herself, as Jesus incarnate, your book' Chasing the Avatar' was being published and was there for me at just the right moment, when, I had lost everything and felt condemed.

Jesus warned us of those who would come after him, claiming to be God. Ammachi, sitting on a throne and wearing a crown of jewels, being worshipped night and day, Ammachi is not as humble as she pretends, and makes a great show of her prayers and humility in public. And allowed her followers to elevate her, and glorify her. It is a wonder it took me so long to see through the facade of the fallen one. The great seducer/deceiver in the form of Kali

Jesus Is the redeemer! And, I Praise The God of Abraham, Jacob and Issac! May I be filled with the holy spirit and hold fast to my faith in Christ for the rest of my days, And may Ammachi step down from her throne and repent, 'Thou shalt have no Gods before me.' Praise Jesus!
