Publisher's Description

Step into this unforgettable narrative with Samanthia Cassidy as she comes of age in the Deep South as part of a dysfunctional family and a “holiness” cult with a pastor who handles snakes and takes indecent liberties with young girls.Your soul will be stirred and your heart warmed as you are drawn irresistibly into a unique time and place in Twentieth-Century Americana. As the author allows you to see through her eyes, you will feel her love and hatred…ecstasy and misery…passion and pain. And you will relish her boldness, courage, tenacity and triumph. In this vivid, unvarnished snapshot of provincial southern life, an intrepid young girl is faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges. Yet despite overwhelming assaults against her childhood trust and innocence, Samanthia’s dauntless spirit, love of family and faith in God transcend every obstacle. You will become part of Samanthia’s big family and experience life in their “Big House.” And you will fall in love with this extraordinary girl who shares her beautiful secret of dancing in the wilderness. About the author: Samanthia Cassidy-singer, songwriter, author-comes from a humble background in the small town of Courtland, Alabama, where she encountered God as a young girl and accepted His call upon her life. She has received a Doctor of Humanities degree from Emmanuel Baptist University and an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Heartland Bible College. As a Gospel singer, she was nominated as one of the top five 1997 soloists at the Gospel Voice Diamond Awards in Nashville, and she is now finishing her fifth music CD. Samanthia has ministered extensively in Nigeria and has had the privilege to sing for presidents, kings and dignitaries from around the world. She plans to take the Gospel to all of Africa, Trinidad, Jamaica and Europe, in addition to churches throughout America. She and her beloved husband, Bill, reside in Corinth, Mississippi.

Tell us a little about yourself.  I started writing at age ten. At age 12 I wrote "The Praying Place" ,Age 15 I wrote my first Gospel Song. My last CD was Nominated for Two Grammy's. In the year 2000 (March) I wrote a song for the nation Nigeria. I was invited by President Olusegun Obasanjo to come back to Nigeria an dssing th esong to thier nation as they celebrated their 40th year of Independence. I wrote "Dancing In The Wilderness" it is my life story, a true story. My book was Nominated for The Christian's Retailer's Choice Award. I love God's people and I speak for RAINN , Washington, DC. I love music, singing and laughter have become my best friends. I love justice.

What was your motivation behind this project?  growing up in a fearful cultish belief, I had no one I could tell my thoughts or my fears or my dreams too, So I started writing my thoughts down on anything i could find, then I would hide all my writiings, but I kept all of them. In 1999 God told me to get out all those old papers and write a book. I did. It was published , nominated, it has blessed millions of people and now in a few months we will begin the movie, "Dancing In The Wilderness"

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I hope people will gain encouragement, and gain a desire to forgive all those that have hurt them in any way. I hope this story will inspire writers to write their stories and to explore their talents and I hope they will dance with God.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  Oh My, there are no words that can describe the cleansing, the joy, all the tears, the true redemption I have experienced from sharing my story. I have grown in so many ways. all for the better. Truth will always set us free.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  My Mother, Etta Terry Marshall, my brother, Roger D. Terry. My husband, Francis William (Bill) Cassidy, have been my greatest friends and encouragers. And my cousin, Becky Culver Bumpas. My true source of inspiration is God. So many authors, Oswald Chambers, Hannah Whittal Smith, Andrew Murray, Charles H Spurgeon, The Holy Bible. Mahalia Jackson, Dottie Rambo, Motown artist,
