Lily n Luthers momAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Reading Comprehension BookJanuary 12, 2012Lily n Luthers momAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This really is a daily workbook. It has lessons divided into 5 day weeks, for 30 weeks. It makes it so easy for me to plan my schedule since the book is set up that way. I only wish it went up to 36 weeks instead of 30 but we are doing other reading comprehension exercises for those last six weeks.
There is one short story per day (usually around 8-15 sentences), followed by 3 comprehension questions and then a phonics question. Not too much, so she gets bored or overwhelmed, but just enough so she gets the message.
The book covers a number of reading comprehension topics for kids to learn, including: Main Idea, Who What Where and When, Sequence, Compare and Contrast, Fantasy and Reality, and Prediction. And it mixes the topics up throughout the book so it doesn't get too repetitive. Keeps my daughter engaged.
Also, the teachers manual is built right into the book. No other books to buy. Overall, an excellent book for reading comprehension. I will defiantly be using these books for grade two and beyond as well.
