Daily Grams: A Guided Review Aiding Mastery Skill Grade 5 is designed as a guided review. There are 180 "grams" in this book, one review per teaching day. Daily Grams will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. This is not a teaching text, but has been specifically designed for review. Concepts are usually repeated within 25 to 30 days. Most of this text is new; however, many sentence combinations are from the original Daily Grams 5/6 level. In addition, this book contains new concepts, such as an introduction and review of analogies, spelling rules, simple/compound sentences, and other concepts. More instruction of grammar concepts is included at the beginning of this text. 178 pages, softcover with answers at the back.

It has the same categories for every day (punctuation, parts of speech, capitalization, analogies, sentence combining, etc). It gives my daughter (11) opportunity for independent work.
littleoAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5good for reviewOctober 9, 2012littleoAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3I bought this for my 5th grade daughter. We did Shurley English 4 last year (which was very through and a lot of work) and thought Shurley 5 repeated too much to purchase. Instead I purchased DG to use as a review and so far it is working well. The lessons are short and are completed rather quickly. I have her do 2-3 lessons per day (I also have her only do the sentences and the writing assignments from Shurley English 5.). I'm not sure that I would feel it to be through enough if I hadn't used Shurely English last year. Again, I feel my daughter gained the knowledge using Shurley 4 and is keeping it fresh by using DG. One of the things I like in DG is the emphasis on editing. There are daily sentences that need editing and simple sentences to combine into compound sentences. I feel these were lacking in Shurley and am glad she is practicing these skills through DG. I also like that DG includes the answers to all lessons.

Susz5 Stars Out Of 5my daughter always does this firstFebruary 15, 2012SuszQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My dd doesn't really like school but she likes doing these. It is a great way to review mechanics of writing daily. It goes well too with the Easy Grammar by the same company. I like the approach of crossing out prepositional phrases first to find the subject and predicate of the sentence!
If you don't want to carry the whole book around, tear the pages out--the binding works for this--or get the store to cut the binding off.

Q: Is this the same as the workbook? I am assuming this is the same as the student workbook, only has the answers in the back. Correct?
Yes, this contains reproducible copies of the student workbook pages, with the answers in the back.
