Your students will be the exception to the perception of geography-illiterate Americans! Thirty-six units present various geographical concepts with plenty of opportunities for real-life reinforcement examples. A teacher page introduces the week's lesson and includes notes on the skills taught, background information, defined vocabulary words and an answer key. Map pages illustrate the skills emphasized and may be reproduced for answer questions; two geography questions are given for each day of the week, progressing in difficulty from Monday to Friday. Challenge questions are included, and often need to be independently researched.
Looking at the world in spatial terms, places and regions, physical systems, human systems, environment and society and uses of geography, this Grade 1 book focuses on identifying the parts of, and using maps and globes, as well as different types of community maps. 160 reproducible pages, softcover. Grade 1.
Transparencies (that used to come with the older edition of this book) are now available as a download with the code located on the inside of the front cover.

MomOnTheGo5 Stars Out Of 5Perfect for first grader!November 14, 2014MomOnTheGoQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is one of my child's favorite subjects right now! It's perfect for a first grader. However, I think it's a little silly to suggest each lesson lasts over a five day period. There are only a few questions per day that take only a few minutes to complete. We chose to combine one entire lesson into a 10-15 minute session and do one per week. My child really enjoys these lessons! We will choose to purchase the Grade 2 level for next year!
T. Smith5 Stars Out Of 5December 19, 2009T. SmithWe have used this for 1st grade home-school this year. I like this enough that I am planning to use this year after year. I have used a number of books from this company and they are all leaps and bounds above anything else I've used or seen. I have to admit I wrestled with the price at first, but decided to take a stab anyway. I figured if we were private schooling we would spend thousands. We used the book a little different though, we answered all the questions at once. Next year I will probably use the daily system.
