Culinary Life Skills

Nutrition, grocery budgeting, entertaining and hospitality etiquette, and of course cooking are all part of Abeka’s Culinary Life Skills one-semester elective. With a practical mixture of learning and application of skills, this course helps to prepare high schoolers for adulthood and running their own household. The Culinary Life Skills student text includes full-color photos, charts, and diagrams, along with reading, recipes, and section reviews, with a final project of a dinner party that combines everything learned during the course. Additional special features include “Something to Try” with ideas for extra practice in the kitchen; ‘Tips & Techniques” with quick references for proper procedures; and “Food for Thought” with historical background or additional information about the chapter concepts.
