A sniper shot hits Cole Tox Russell. The enemy is one of his own; a rogue Special Forces team operator and old friend, Alec King. Tox discovers Alec commits several horrific murders that he claims is vengeance against the wrongs committed by his victims. Then he begins targeting innocent people and tries to blackmail Tox into joining him, expressing they are the same type of soldier. Tox must come to terms with what type of soldier he really is, as it is a soldier’s duty to kill with honor in the pursuit of justice, not murder for one’s own vengeance.

Series: Tox Files
Six months after stopping a deadly plague, Cole "Tox" Russell and his team are enjoying a little rest. That peace is short-lived when a sniper shot hits Tox. The enemy is discovered to be one of their own, a rogue Special Forces team operator.
Alec King is perhaps the only person as skilled as Tox, and he's out for justice. Furious with orders that got his men killed, he intends to make those responsible pay. And he insists Tox join him, believing they are the same breed of soldier.
Afraid his old friend is right, Tox battles a growing darkness within himself as he and his team engage in another deadly encounter with antiquity. It appears Alec is cheating--he's using a mysterious artifact, a crown that history has linked to some of the worst slaughters in humanity. Racing to stop Alec before his vengeance is unleashed, Tox must fight the monster without becoming one.
JoyONew HampshireAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A.Maz.Ing.October 17, 2017JoyONew HampshireAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Wow! Ronie Kendig has done it again, forever claiming a spot as one of my go-to military, thriller, suspense authors!
Imagine if a military suspense, The Lord of the Rings, and National Treasure where all thrown into a literary blender, and then this concoction is sprinkled with a sweet romance. Clearly, I am no chef, but I think you get the point that this book is amazing!
Re-dive into the world of Cole "Tox" Russell, Haven (Kasey), Ram, and Tzivia. A world where history and the supernatural collide with our modern-day issues and unbelief. The story mostly flows from Tox and Haven's perspectives, but Ram (I love Ram!), Tzivia, and a mysterious, important man from the past make appearances that left me wanting more. This journey is rife with action, soul-searching, and...victory?
Sorry. I can't say more. Spoilers. And I relish in your frustration a little. Hehe. ;-)
The story is peppered with the spiritual premise that if you stare into the darkness, then it stares into you. Through Tox's struggles and secrets and Haven's steadfastness, reader's are reminded that no matter what they've done, God's love and forgiveness covers all.
Five Stars ~ A.Maz.Ing. Crown of Souls is the second book in The Tox Files. I would definitely recommend reading book one, Conspiracy of Silence, before diving into Crown of Souls. They make great binge reads! I'm looking forward to the next book, Thirst of Steel, to a mildly alarming, obsessive, great degree! Thirst of Steel releases on July 31st, 2018.
I received a copy of Crown of Souls by Ronie Kendig from Bethany House Publishers, a division of Baker Publishing Group. All opinions expressed are my own.
LadySnowAngelAge: 18-24Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Best yetOctober 16, 2017LadySnowAngelAge: 18-24Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Some people can wait patiently for a sequel, not me. I have been waiting to get my hands on Crown of Souls since I read the last page of Conspiracy of Silence.
It's been six months since the events of Conspiracy of Silence, Cole "Tox" Russell and Haven Cortes are enjoying the Fourth of July with the team and their families when a shot throws them into danger and the middle of another multi-continent mystery. Tox, Haven, and the team race to stop the latest disaster facing the world. Tox has another major problem besides being the one who got shot; Alec King is or was Tox's friend and fellow soldier. If Alec has gone too far to be saved, is Tox also beyond saving? As fear stalks Tox and threatens to tear everyone and everything he loves from him, there's only one place for him to turn, but how long will fear hold him back and keep him from being who and whose he is meant to be?
I love that Cole "Tox" Russell and Haven Kasey Cortes are the main characters in all three books of The Tox Files. Some characters just deserve a whole trilogy of books; Cole and Haven are definitely in that category.
Crown of Souls is exactly what you expect of a book with Ronie Kendig's name on the cover to be: lots of explosive action, suspense, spectacular romance, and a whole team of exceptional characters.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Jane5 Stars Out Of 5A grip-the-edge-of-your-seat seriesOctober 11, 2017JaneQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I just finished reading Crown of Souls. It's the second book of the Tox Files series by Ronie Kendig, and I can hardly wait for the third one to come my way! This book is an action-packed mix of Indiana Jones, Seal Team 6, and the Knights Templar. If you enjoy history, the idea that artifacts could have some strange effects on people, and military action you will want to pick this book up. That being said, you will definitely want to read the first in the series, Conspiracy of Silence, and the prequel, Warrior's Seal first.
Crown of Souls picks up where the first book left off, with a new artifact to recover, evil to stop, and a growing relationship between the two main characters: Cole "Tox" Russel and Haven. One of the things I really like about this series is that while there is a definite romantic element, it is not primarily a love story. The race against evil is what drives this tale.
Evil comes in the form of a crown that corrupts the wearer until his moral judgement is rotted away. Unfortunately for Tox, the wearer happens to be a fellow soldier who wants nothing more than to take Tox down the road of destruction with him. So, while Tox is fighting an outer battle, he is also fighting an inner battle, trying to reconcile the unspeakable things he has done as a soldier with who he is as a man whose desire is to be honorable and useful to God.
As he struggles, his team has his back and more of their secrets are revealed. Other characters from the previous book play an important role, mainly Ti Tzaddik who is more than he seems to be. There is also a reunion between Tox and a very special lady.
I found Crown of Souls to be a thoroughly enjoyable read. I happily await book three, and in the meantime I recommend this series to those who are seeking an exciting bit of fiction.
I received my copy of this book from the publisher, Bethany House, in exchange for my honest review.
SarahsReadingCanadaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Amazing Series! Can't wait for the next one!October 10, 2017SarahsReadingCanadaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I agree with other posters that you will want to read the prequel and 'Conspiracy of Silence' before 'Crown of Souls'! It will make the read richer!
Ronie Kendig has done it again! I loved 'Conspiracy of Silence' and Ronie keeps the excitement and suspense going in this new release and you will not want it to end!
I loved the first book and didn't know how Ronie would top it, but she did an amazing job with 'Crown of Souls'! Not only was the team in top form, there was a hint of romance in this one. I love a good action adventure book with a hint of romance and Ronie does that balance so perfectly. For those of you who don't like romance books, you don't need to worry because it doesn't detract from the action and suspense at all!
Tox, Haven and the team are in a race. A race against a mad man bent on revenge. Add into the mix a mysterious artifact that is adding madness to the mix and you have an action-packed race across the world. Ronie is so good at crafting suspense that I often found myself holding my breath, reading desperately to find out what happened next. I was craving resolution and safety for the team, but I was also so sad when the book ended. Being an author myself, I know how much work goes into a novel but I wanted this one to be twice as long. I can't wait for the next book in the series 'Thirst of Steel'!
Cole 'Tox' Russell is an amazing hero. What I love about Ronie's heroes is that they are so real. They have flaws, faults, fears and yet are willing to fight for what's right. I think sometimes heroes are too perfect that I can't find them believable. Ronie's heroes come fully-equipped with scars, imperfections and hair pulling moments. Just like real life. Ronie is a master story-teller and I never want to put her books down!
MarilynCoral Springs, FLAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Series must be read in orderOctober 9, 2017MarilynCoral Springs, FLAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This is actually book three in the Tox Files series, if you count the prequel. I would suggest reading them all and in order to understand everything that goes on in each book. Warrior's Seal, Conspiracy of Silence then this one Crown of Souls. The entire series focus on a group of soldiers with their leader being "Tox" Cole Russell. Each character has their own personality type and really play a very important role in their missions.
Ronnie Kendig always does such a great job at keeping the suspense, action and drama all at the forefront. I love books about our special forces, military, police force and such. This series also has a touch of romance in it as well. Kendig always does a great job at grabbing your interest from the beginning and keeping it till the end, while still keeping you hanging in there for the next one in the series.
Cole is a complex man with many secrets which he feels honor bound to keep. When the enemy seems one step ahead of him the entire way, he is dealing with one thing after another. Will Cole be able to forgive and realize his past is just that a past?
