INAPPROPRIATE FOR CHRISTIAN BOOKSELLER
June 25, 2017
I recently read and thoroughly enjoyed a paperback copy of "Karla Faye Tucker Set Free" by Linda Strom that I found doing prison ministry. I enjoyed it so much so that I passed it on to someone else. Thus, I purchased the eBook and wanted to know more about Karla's testimony of coming to faith in Christ, so I also purchased "Crossed Over" by Beverly Lowry. I was very disappointed with "Crossed Over" because it was written apparently by a non-Christian author who attempted to compare Karla's story with the tragic death of her son, although I didn't catch the connection she was trying to make. The primary focus of Linda Strom's book was Karla's faith in Christ and witness for Him after her conversion.
What makes "Crossed Over" inappropriate is that it contains frequent vulgar language and graphic descriptions of various sex acts Karla and her family members and friends engaged in prior to her arrest and conversion. I read the whole thing because I expected it to finally provide information regarding Karla's conversion experience to faith in Christ, but barely a mention was made. That is understandable when considering the author almost surely is not a follower of Christ.
I highly recommend you remove "Crossed Over" from your inventory of books.
