Wes3 Stars Out Of 5Very interesting, definitely "heady" and critical as opposed to practicalAugust 14, 2021WesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3Dr. Carl Raschke has a very uniue and well grounded perspective, using and taking neo-Marxist and Critical Theory based philosophy to critique the quasi-liberational , supposed "cultural marxist" superstructure inside late modern global capitalism.
He also has a unique ability , even a gift to describe and point to the power of the gospel from a purely academic, non-confessional argumentative stance built from Continental philosophy and pscyhoanalysis.
There are some nuggets of wisdom in this book around defining political theology, and a Christian way of not over assigning theories of objectivity while also not necessarily rejecting all metanarratives.
The book is definitely more focused on critical , academic analysis than prescribing practical steps for individuals, and gets pretty dense at times especially around chapter 4 describing Badiou and symbolic interpretations of the cross.
Still an interesting read, especially for those interested in political theology and social/cultural perspectives.
