What a great book!! Couldn't put it down!!! Looking forward to reading more Janice Cantore books in the future!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend it if you like Christian suspense. It deals with child abductions, so some of the subject matter is hard to read. Overall, though, it's a good story.

This was an excellent book that kept me reading well into the night. I love the fact that the author Janice Canotore is an ex-cop because she includes lots of details in the book that only a police offer could add. I enjoyed Officers Brinna Cauruso's character and how is never gave up and grew in her faith from fellow officer Jack O'Reilly. I highly recommend this well written book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Having been abducted and left to die as a 7 year old child, police officer, Brinna Caruso, takes her job seriously. She is determined to find and rescue as many abducted children as possible, just as she was found by police officer Milo, who later became her mentor.

Brinna enjoys working with her canine partner, Hero, but after a shooting on the job, Brinna finds herself temporarily assigned to patrol and partnered with Jack, a burnt out cop dealing with the death of his wife.

Jack and Brinna have a lot in common as they both blame God for the problems in their life. As they work together to find a set of abducted twin girls, they each discover that God has a plan for them and can use their tragedies to shape and mold their lives for the future.

Critical Pursuit is a nice blend of suspense with a hint of romance and was an enjoyable read.

This was my first exposure to Janice Cantore and I was really impressed. The author's previous occupation as police officer really lends authenticity to the story in terms of police procedure, lingo, call situations, and even how officers act towards one another. Brinna was abducted and molested as a 6 year old but now 20 years later, she is a police officer on a mission to find missing children. She is tough, honest, and focused. She is forced to partner with Jack, a homicide detective back on patrol while struggling with the death of his wife and unborn child. I liked that the author included God in the book by raising a difficult question that many people struggle with: If God is good, how can He let evil happen, let children be abducted and hurt by people? Brinna does not believe in God because of this. Jack used to believe in God but lost his faith once a drunk driver took away his wife. Both of them struggle with the question of God but with differing outcomes. I liked that the chapters were really short; it seemed to make the story move along quicker. *Possible spoilers* Although, the villain is known from the beginning, I would have liked more of a confrontation between him and the police. His manner of death was "poetic justice" but I guess it was a little anti-climactic to me. I was also confused about Brinna's mentor, Milo. Even though Milo found peace in God, I couldn't understand why he would commit suicide anyway *End of spoiler* Overall, I really enjoyed this story (4.5 stars). There wasn't a romance in this one but maybe there will be in the next book in this series, Visible Threat.
