Arranged by quarters and weeks, each quarter begins with an "Around the World" summary of events to introduce the time period; lessons progress chronologically with each week having 3 lessons, a pretest, review, and exercise or quiz. The 108 lessons will take a year to complete if you follow a traditional 36 week school year.
Activities are broken down by age group and reinforce the material just learned through fun ideas that engage all learning styles; they're based upon the classical grammar/logic/rhetoric stages. Review exercises cover the timeline and map work exercises; quizzes are cumulative reviews that go over material from the very beginning of the course; the semester-long tests are similar (though longer), covering materials from 2 quarters (one major time period). Quarter-end worksheets help students synthesize what they've learned and keep everyone straight! Suggested Schedules for different age groups are included, as well as plenty of reproducibles. Line-listed answers included. 636 pages, activity pages reproducible, softcover, three-hole-punched and perforated pages. Grades 4-8, but adaptable for the family.

norrisclanof44 Stars Out Of 5I like the conceptNovember 1, 2016norrisclanof4Quality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0i love the concept of all of our history in order so my kids can see how the Bible stories they have been learning tie in on the timeline. i dont like that there is no student textbook. This book is more like a teacher text. There are very little pictures and there is so much info in it that ks for the parent/teacher that makes it busy and not fun to look at. I supliment a lot with USborne books, the Bible, The Bible on Netflix, and some YouTube. There are a lot of free printables online I use as well for notebooking. I love all the hands on activites, although we dont do all of them. If this had a colorful student text to go with it it would be pretty much perfect in my opion. It's great as is though.

LisaAge: 35-44Gender: Female3 Stars Out Of 5Mystery Of History Volume 1 Second EditionMay 25, 2015LisaAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 1Ms. Hobar is a fantastic writer, and I do love this curriculum for many reasons. The coverage is good. The timeline is well spaced out over the four volumes, and the text is written in an engaging manner for all ages.
However.. I do like to see illustrations. It seems to me as though illustrations and other engaging materials are missing from the text. In fact, there are no illustrations whatsoever aside from a few secondary scene cliparts (and the maps in the back of the book). What I mean is that there are enough of them to make it so the pages are not COMPLETELY lacking in pictures or illustrations of what we have read but enough so that it seems like there are "blanks" purposefully placed so that parents would have to purchase the coloring pages and the timeline figures etc., etc. in order to get the full picture. For example, in Lesson 7 we read about the Sumerians where cuneiform is explained in detail. The activity in this lesson is to make our own cuneiform tablet complete with instructions but no illustration to show us what it even looked like.
I've put off implementing our history curriculum until the fall because this curriculum is not complete. The extras are simply not optional and so the book needs to have more specific instructions for the parent as to how and when to implement it all together, like Tapestry of Grace has done.
Not recommended for new homeschoolers like me.
