Publisher's Description

When people look at you, what do they see? Do they see Jesus?
Let’s be honest. In many places today the church is not particularly well liked. It’s viewed as judgmental, mean, ignorant, and intolerant. If we want to have any influence on the world or even the people next door, we need to give some serious consideration to why that is.

How have Christians, a people who are called by God to be the most loving, caring, understanding, and joyous people in the world, come to be viewed as the exact opposite? How can we change that? Craveable is an all-out call for Christianity to return to the allure that caused the church to win the world in the first century. It is time to start:

• Listening as Jesus listened
• Loving as He loved
• Leading as He led

In other words, if God’s church and His people were to act like Jesus, loving the unlovable, accepting all the unacceptable, and demonstrating a life of faith and joy, we would be successful in turning our perception from being unlikeable to actually being CRAVEABLE!

We are the only Jesus some people will ever see. Wouldn't be a shame if people didn't see Jesus in us when they looked at our lives? Sadder still, if they don't leave our presence craving Jesus because of how we live our lives.

Artie Davis, director of TheSticks Network, a church -planting movement, and the founding pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Orangeburg, SC, asks us to take an honest look at ourselves. As a group of people who are called by God to be the most loving, compassionate, and joy-filled people in the world, why are Christians often viewed as being the exact opposite? In "Craveable", Davis challenges us to return to the passion that the first church had that won the world in the first century.

"Craveable" is a forty-day journey of finding the irresistible Jesus inside ourselves and marketing it to the world. It is an action book. If you only read it not much is going to change. The best use of Davis' book is in a small group setting where members are committed to reading and discussing in depth the ideas in the book as well as holding each other accountable for applying its wisdom to their lives.

This book is more than an individual self-help book. It is more of a group mission study. Churches are not well-liked—they are viewed as judgmental and intolerant. Christ's mission was to love others—not condemn them. Jesus is craveable. It is time His followers learned how to present his irresistibility to the world around them.

We all want to be loved. We all want happiness. We all want a sense of community. This book clearly shows how we are to be towards the world, towards other Christians. First and foremost by living a life that clearly portrays God's love, joy, and righteousness. By living a life pleasing to Christ, by following his commands, we automatically experience that love and joy. Others are attracted to that love and joy and the peace that comes from it. That experience; that is Craveable.

When I got this book I had never before heard of Artie Davis, but after reading Craveable, I will be constantly looking for more of his work! Craveable is an inspiring, outlook-changing, exciting call to be more like Jesus. It's a call to Christians to not just speak the words we are programmed to from our childhood Sunday school classes, but live out God's craveable love. It gives methods of sharing the truth and joy that only comes from faith in Christ in ways that appeal to the humanness of us all, the human desire to be loved and joy-filled. This book has forever changed my perspective on how the Christian church should go about sharing God's love to a lost and lonely world.
