What do you crave to make you happy?
… every day is filled with things we want and crave. Things that will make us feel good at least for a moment. But what happens when that moment is gone and the need returns?
Theres nothing wrong with wanting certain things, but God didnt create us to rely on those things to make us happy. He created us to crave Him, and a happiness that lasts.
In this teen adaptation of the bestselling Made to Crave, the deep emotional, physical, and material cravings you face are exploreddesires that can turn into spending too much, over- or under-eating, needing a boyfriend, or more.
Through real-life stories and support from people who have been where you are, you will also discover how to truly crave God and the love and comfort He wants us to have, and how craving heavenly things can make the earthly cravings easier to overcome.
You were made to crave more than this world has to offer.

Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I find that this book is not only applicable to young teens, but older age groups as well. Most of the examples used are situations faced by young women, but I think the idea of what the authors are trying to depict are generally easy for readers to apply in their own situation.
**Summary of What the book is about:
The book highlights the importance of directing our cravings towards God and not physical, emotional, and material cravings that the world we live in offers.
**What's in each chapter?
There are challenges at the end of each chapter - good way to apply things learned. At the end of each chapter, there are also short "take-away" notes that summarizes the whole thought of that chapter.
**Length of Read:
There are 3 sections of the book and each chapter is about 9-10 pages of read
The only critique I have is that I think the book could have been edited more, in which the chapters were made shorter. I find that for most of the ideas presented by the authors, many concepts repetitive - there are more than one example for each point made. Nevertheless, the topics that were presented were interesting to read thus compensates for this.
KerriAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5ExcellentOctober 11, 2013KerriAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I purchased 2 of this book to discuss with my almost 16 year old daughter. We both really enjoyed it! She could relate to a lot in the book and I recalled those teen years all over again. I'm so thankful that this book could help us both (different ways) grow closer to God! This book is very applicable with the how's and whys answered very directly. There are applications at the end of each chapter that teach young ladies to seek God continuously. I'm glad my daughter and I could discuss this book and the issues laid out which she has encountered. This guide really has opened her young eyes to fill all voids with God. Excellent direction on how to fill voids, what kind of voids young ladies have, and how the devil tempts. I encourage if you desire your teen daughter to be armoured in this world this is an excellent resource! such a blessings for us both:)

JohnDeereGirlPlainfield, IndianaAge: Under 18Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Essential !!January 29, 2013JohnDeereGirlPlainfield, IndianaAge: Under 18Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Chocolate. Caffeine. Boys. Friends. Shoes. Stuff. Diets. We all have cravings, and we all attempt to fill those cravings with different things or people. But the satisfaction is only temporary, or perhaps non-existent. Why is it that we can never find satisfaction?
In this book, Lysa and Shaunti speak to young women on cravings and desires. They discuss emotional, physical, and material cravings, and the wrong things we tend to look to in order to fulfill them. This ranges from food to shoes to shopping sprees and all the in-between. They discuss the error in our turning to these things for satisfaction, joy, and contentment, and also encourage you to take active steps towards abstaining from these tendencies and longings, instead turning toward God and his love for fulfillment.
There were several aspects of this book I liked. Lysa and Shaunti do a great job at connecting with areas that affect each and every one of us, relating well to young women. They are also honest and open about the difficulties of turning away from cravings and idols in our lives, not attempting to give you a false view of this journey. They use personal accounts, real-life stories, and great illustrations to relate to the reader as well as to keep your attention.
Overall I would say that this is a wonderful book for teens and young women. It is filled with truths that can and do greatly benefit the reader. I would recommend this to any and all young women!!
Note: I received a copy of this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, but my opinions are my own.
M. PieperMount Dora, FLGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Trendy--and TrueAugust 15, 2012M. PieperMount Dora, FLGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I admit it. I'm not one to follow the trends. If anything, I'm the one standing on the sidelines, smiling to myself. Just because it's popular doesn't mean I have to buy/read/eat/sing/whatever it.
That's why when Lysa TerKeurst's MADE TO CRAVE (Zondervan, 2011) debuted and hit all kinds of best-seller lists, I waited. "It's probably not all that good." "The author has a huge network." "Gotta be a combination of savvy marketing and the right book at the right time."
Or maybe it's biblical, contemporary, life-shaping, fresh, and poignant --like its younger sister. Today's review covers the YA version of MADE TO CRAVE, written with best-selling author Shaunti Feldhahn.
As the mother of young adults and as someone who writes for them (often through the pages of SUSIE Magazine), I try to stay in touch with YA literature. I rarely see anything as well-written, targeted, focused, and practical as MADE TO CRAVE FOR YOUNG WOMEN: SATISFYING YOUR DEEPEST DESIRES WITH GOD. Although the original book addresses the food cravings many of us battle, this version speaks to the physical, emotional, and material cravings that grip young lives in huge ways. Topics range from body image to inappropriate means of seeking approval to tough issues like promiscuity and alcohol abuse.
Neither author is afraid of stark statistics or the kind of transparent sharing that breaks down walls. The book moves forward with just the right blend of biblical truth, personal anecdote, and directed challenge. Lysa and Shaunti are not finger-pointing church ladies but big sisters coming alongside to offer hope and help. The practical steps they suggest include directed journaling, Scripture memory suggestions, and wholesome activities that will help readers retrain their minds and reshape their hearts.
I doubt I'll ever leap onto the next trendy bandwagon, literary or otherwise. But a book that says more than, "Just stop it" in its effort to help young adults recognize their cravings as idolatry? That's a trend to follow.
Q: Looking for a Devotional or Study Guide I really like this book for my young ladies bible study and was wondering if they have created a devotional or study guide format that could be used in a group setting. I would really like our teen girls to have something to follow along with while we study. Any information would be great! thanks!Esther
