Fun game that can be used for all levels
December 28, 2014
We played this game just once so we have not made it through all the cards, but we enjoyed it! We played as a family to see how it was since our main purpose was to use it for youth group/elementary ages at church. The red cards are EXTREMELY easy, but that is okay since we will have un-churched kids at many functions. We only used a portion of the cards but we did run across two that were Catholic church questions. We will have to remove those before playing with our church group. Some of the Hymns for the Humdinger cards are very old hymns that many kids/teens may not know. So we just improvised with our own hymn that was more common. Overall it was a good time and will work well for a group with different levels of Biblical teaching.
Played with our 10 and 13 year old kids tonight. Had fun! But, we had to change a few of the cards because one was "convent", which isn't IN the Bible, so my kids wouldn't have know what that was. And the RED "question" cards were incredibly simple. No need to even use the multiple choice (i.e. what was Abraham's promised son's name? How many days did God take to create the world?) I'm scared that those were even questions since the box says "teens and adults". But, the sculpting and the regular Cranium stuff like drawing with eyes closed was a lot of fun. Any problems could be easily substituted or changed to meet the needs of the player (if you had smaller kids, you could change some of the spelling cards, etc.). Overall good with some adjustment needed.
I bought this game for my 3 - 5 grade class. They are able to do many of the cards on their own (acting, singing, sculpting... they need help spelling) but many of the cards are Bible terms, concepts or people that are too difficult for them. They need help, but it is a good learning tool for them!
