Abortion continues to be a hot topic in politics, women's rights, and medical practice. But for the eight to ten million American Christian women who have had one, abortion is a spiritual issue as well, raising questions of life and death, heaven and hell, grief and loss.
Writing from her own experience, Kim Ketola sheds light on the widespread need for healing and spiritual recovery after abortion. With a compassionate heart, Ketola offers ten true stories of healing promise from the Bible to help women answer the most common spiritual torments they face.

Writing from her own experience, Kim Ketola sheds light on one of the darkest and most neglected personal issues of our time: the widespread need for healing and spiritual recovery after abortion. "After abortion brought the worst trouble into my life I had ever known," writes Ketola, "I just couldn't see my way free to believe in God's love." With a compassionate heart, Ketola offers ten true stories of healing promise from the Bible to help women answer the most common spiritual torments they face: Is abortion a sin? Does God hate me? Where can I turn in my shame and distress? How could I ever tell anyone the truth? And more.
Inspired by Romans 6:4--"just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life"--this is a definitive resource to help women see themselves and God anew and--finally--to find spiritual healing.

She never talked much about it. Abortion is something I feel very strongly about. I am completely against it under any circumstances. And I suppose that because I feel this way, I would not be the best one to counsel or speak with one who has had an abortion.
This book does what I could never do--speak to those who have had abortion with mercy, grace, and love. The author herself speaks from experience. She had an abortion, and she knew it was wrong. It is something that she had to deal with through her life, and God has given her amazing ministry.
I was impressed with the very spiritual and Biblical way the author treated this topic. She answered the difficult questions--is my baby in heaven, can God forgive me, etc. And she uses Bible stories in ways I have never seen. In fact, she retells them in a very readable fashion that speaks to the women to whom she is ministering. I also loved all the practical information she gave her readers.
I appreciated the fact that Kim Ketola researched her facts and shared information that kind of shocked me concerning abortion. I don't want to give everything away, but I had no idea what the real statistics are concerning abortion were. And I have never considered all the reasons someone might get an abortion. This was truly an eye-opening book that was well-written and heartfelt. It is a definite read for anyone who has ever had an abortion.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

This book is a good resource for those that have had to make the decision to end their child's life because others wanted it to be ended.
Booklover105 Stars Out Of 5A book about healing, forgiveness, and moving onAugust 28, 2012Booklover10Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have never personally experienced an abortion but I felt that this book did a wonderful job of ministering to women who have walked down that road and are hurting. Throughout the entire book, Kim shares her story in snippets of her abortion, what led her to her abortion, and then the emotional turmoil that she later faced. She also includes stories from other women who have had abortions but have come to know the forgiveness of Christ and have let Him change their hearts and have let forgiveness comfort them.
Filled with reminders that God loves us, even after an abortion, is what I grasp might be a hard thing to understand after you have an abortion. Not only that, but knowing that you are forgiven for what you have done and you are set free. She does a wonderful job, in my opinion, of reminding her readers of these facts and reaching out to them in a way that you know Kim has walked this road, too. She is not a harsh writer, but is very sensitive to her wording and to her message. However, she doesn't back down from the fact that you need to share it with someone. Satan loves for us to not tell anyone and hide in our anguish. When you tell someone, it is so freeing and you feel that you can move forward. She gives you guidelines of who to tell, etc. I also loved how you could feel her love through the pages when she discussed whether abortion is a sin and how other people could also be held accountable for it too, if they had given you no choice about it. You could tell she was not condemning, but was staying true to what God has said in the Bible about abortion.
Not only would this book be good for a person who has had an abortion, I think it would be good for the men who have expressed remorse over an abortion, a parent who is or has strongly considering the abortion of their grandchild because of their child's actions, a counselor, or any friends of someone who has walked this road. This book is a great support tool to be able to reach out and help someone take their first step of healing.
I received this book free from Litfuse Publishing Group in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

Though I've not had an abortion, I do know women who have, and the guilt and shame are sometimes overwhelming. Some drown it in work, alcohol, or drugs, while others suffer with depression and/or anxiety.
Kim Ketola, the author of Cradle My Heart, has had an abortion. She shares her life transparently in hopes of helping other women who've had an abortion get the healing she has received. She acknowledges it isn't an easy or fast process, but through faith in Jesus Christ, healing can come. Though abortion is a physical action taken, it affects your spiritual and emotions parts more drastically. Only God can heal the spiritual aspect.
Cradle My Heart is divided into three parts:
Your Heart: examination; invitation; open conversation
God's Heart: demonstration, realization; restoration; jubilation
The Whole Heart: consolation; dedication; celebration
In her book, Kim will share with you how to:
Face yourself and face God
Repent and accept God's love
Forgive and be forgiven
Grieve and find an end to sorrow.
I found Kim's book to be full of love, hope, grace and mercy, all of which stem from God through His Son, Jesus. You won't hear condemnation from God.
She gives Timeless Truths that resonate Jesus' love to and for you. She also includes a Reflect area where you meditate on Scripture that pertains to the chapter issues she writes about. The Request section is a personal prayer about learning to trust the Lord and thanking Him for His help. You can use that specific prayer or use it as a springboard to to pour out your own soul. It's a great starting place to check out your own feelings and state your desires to the Lord. The Respond section shares ideas of how to grow in the Lord, develop relationships, and richly care for yourself as you reflect on God's love for you despite having an abortion.
To find a place to assist you in healing, she has a list of places to call for free and confidential assistance and referrals. To find healing and peace, please make a call today if you are grieving the loss of your child(ren). You are important to God and He wants to see you whole. My hope, after reading this review, is that you will find the acceptance and forgiveness that you are searching for. Check out and read Cradle My Heart.
