Publisher's Description

Carly Blosser may not match the typical description of a conservative Mennonite woman—unmarried at 27, living alone, and careening around her Oregon neighborhood on a pink bicycle—but she has a soft heart for the elderly Mennonite residents at Sweet Life Assisted Living Facility, where she works as a caregiver. When Carly's plans for a new volunteer program go awry, she shifts her focus to one lonely resident named Martha. Adam Lapp, a wood shop instructor at Sweet Life, joins with Carly to reunite Martha with an old flame before her 85th birthday. Carly and Adam's hunt involves carved initials on covered bridges, digging up the past, and the appearance of a newcomer, who hinders the budding romance between the two. Soon, new clues sweep them all in a harried race to the finish line where love is sure to be the ultimate prize.

Editorial Reviews

"Uncertainty merges with tenacity in a story of resourcefulness to bring joy to one lonely heart while spilling love across the pages in the process. Readers caring for aging friends and family will spot themselves in the fervent quest to solve the mystery and uncover delight."
-Olivia Newport, author of Amish Turns of Time historical fiction

Christner’s ("Plain City Bridesmaids" series) well-crafted, small-town setting and endearingly quirky characters will engage fans of Amish fiction, particularly those who like Margaret Brownley. Readers in search of an enchanting romance will enjoy following the blossoming relationship between Carly and Adam.

Carly is a fun protagonist that readers quickly fall for. Her quirky, strong willed character is a breath of fresh air, and her compassion is endearing. The relationship she has with Adam Lapp is both humorous and frustrating, and while readers root for them to end up together, the  novel is not predictable enough to know if that is what is going to happen. Overall a quick, lovely novel that leaves readers with a smile.

Fans of Christian Amish romance fiction will like Christner’s entertaining, light love story mixed with a heartwarming subplot that effectually reveals real-life aging issues some elderly experience.

This is such a fun story.....so many of the characters are so lovable and amusing! I love reading of the antics of the elderly and Carly Blosser works in a conservative Mennonite assisted living facility called Sweet Life Assisted Living Facility. They have nicknames for the residents and repeater, nines, klepto, and the other residents endeared themselves to me and I just fell in love with them, much as Carly loves them. She gets the idea to help dear Martha to find an old beau that she met at one of the local covered bridges and Adam Lapp agrees to help her. Adam and Carly have a definite spark between them as well. Will they discover more than old romance while helping Martha locate James? They have an obstacle though. Adam's dad does not like Carly and does not want them together in a romantic sense. Will they listen to their hearts or obey his father?

Readers are sure to enjoy the funny and sometimes sad events that take place at Sweet Life Assisted Living Facility. There are quite a few furry and feathered friends in the story to peak the interest of animal lovers too.

I rated this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to readers of Mennonite fiction and Christian fiction.

I received a copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Covered Bridge Charm is a wonderful book written by Dianne Christner. She had me laughing alot in this book! The characters are so well described I felt I knew personally. The residents at Sweet Life Assisted Living Facility have each been given a nickname that suits their individual personalities and helps to add Charm to the story. The main characters Carly and Adam keep getting thrown together because of situations created by Carly.

When Adam decides that his feelings for Carly are growing stronger he sets out to win her heart. Carly doesn't make it easy for him because of a past relationship with his cousin. Adam's family isn't in favor of it either what will Adam do??

When Carly comes up with a plan for a volunteer program at the Assisted living facility she has road blocks to overcome! With Carly's quirky personality will she convince the residence in her small town to cooperate?

See how all this turns out as you read Covered Bridge Charm. I'm hoping there will be more books to follow.

I did not receive a complimentary copy of this book but I submit my honest review for a well written story. I also rated this book with 5 stars! Also the quality, value, and expectations were rated a 5.

Covered Bridge Charm was a sweet Mennonite story. The main character Carly is a 27 year old Mennonite woman who works in a assisted living facility for the elderly. I easily became involved in the lives of Carly and the elderly residents. Sparks fly when Adam comes to work at the facility and teams up with Carly to hekp an elderly resident. i I loved the chemistry between Carly and Adam.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dianne Christner's book, "Covered Bridge Charm". Even though Carly Blosser is Mennonite, she could have been any young, Christian woman trying to be independent while still following her beliefs. There was real-life struggles that were totally believable as well as the real-life situations connected with aging. I look forward to reading more from Dianne Christner.

I had a really hard time getting into this one from the beginning, and then there are just a few things that are a little too fast for me. I guess that is the best way to describe it, while other things were a bit too slow in coming. The character's relationship is neither here nor there, and I just couldn't get to where I was enjoying it. There are interesting aspects, from Carly's choice of pet and her Aunt's excellent advice. But even with that I didn't finish the book. My recommendation would be to read the "look inside" preview on amazon and see if it grabs your interest! :)
