No one is born courageous, but everyone hopes courage will come. Here's how to stand strong.
Like many other people of faith, you may be concerned about what the future holds for Christians in America. Every day we wake up in a nation and world that is increasingly hostile to our beliefs and values. Even the basic freedoms that define America--speech and religion--are under attack. The result is that many of us have become fearful, apathetic and detached. The great need of the day is a sweeping revolution of courage in our lives, families and houses of worship. A Call for Courage will spark that revolution in you.
Michael Anthony understands how fear can paralyze us, and in this revolutionary new book he shows Christians how to stand up and speak out, mobilizing them to walk by faith, not fear. Drawing from Scripture and deep personal experience, he proves that anyone can learn the secret to putting fear in its place and becoming more courageous. A Call for Courage will help you stand up and speak out while others demand you sit down and shut up. You will learn how to
- develop the secret weapons God has given you for courage,
- handle haters, racists, and everyone in between,
- overcome attacks against your freedom of religion and speech,
- speak the truth with love when disagreements threaten to create division, and
- develop courageous humility as your new way of life.
A Call for Courage is a handbook on how to live with courageous humility. No matter who you are or what you're facing, A Call for Courage will help you live with power, truth, and love in an age of intolerance and fear.

A Note From The Author▼▲
Hello, Christian Book family! I think it's time for a second American revolution, don't you? Not the kind fought with conventional, chemical or biological weapons, but the kind that comes courtesy of God's power through ordinary people just like you and me. God's power is available to you, your family and your church. God is extending an invitation to you, to help him write history at this dark time in America.
America needs a revolution of courageous humility, because fear and arrogance are running rampant. Only God can overcome the shouting, hatred, division and violence that is now sewn into the American fabric. This is where you come in and it's why I wrote, A Call for Courage: Living With Power, Truth, and Love in an Age of Intolerance and Fear. I wrote the book with you in mind, to spark your personal spiritual awakening. I spent six days in a secluded Pennsylvania cabin writing the first draft because I felt compelled to pen it for you, your family and for our nation.
A Call for Courage is a practical how-to-handbook. In it, I don't just talk about the problems we face in our personal lives, families, churches and nation. I wove personal stories into it, and did my absolute best to provide practical, biblical solutions that you can immediately apply. That's part of what makes A Call for Courage a different kind of book. We need a different approach to what we've been trying in America. I think this book offers you a fresh start with God that will truly renew your life.
Much of what ails America and American Christianity stems from our misguided belief that the Bible is primarily a book of exceptions rather than a book of examples. Many of us were children when we first heard the amazing stories of ordinary men and women who accomplished extraordinary exploits for God. There was a time when the lives of biblical heroes and underdogs mesmerized and inspired us. We even dreamt about having an impact like them someday in our lives. But then we matured just enough to diminish a key reason why God wanted their stories recorded in the first place: to inspire us to live lives just like them.
It's time to stop dreaming about having a huge impact for God. We must no longer mistake the Bible primarily as a book of exceptions when it comes to being used mightily by Him. It's time for you to stand and deliver, to live your life like the heroes and underdogs we read about and respect in the Bible, where you honor God and flow with His power like never before now.
My prayer is that A Call for Courage will spark a revolution of courageous humility in you. When that happens, the spiritual awakening America needs the one you need in your personal life, your family and your church will be underway. It's time to unleash God's power in your life, family and church. Why wait for the outpouring God is offering everyone at this vital time? It's time for courageous humility to arise in you.
Apart from my wife, Billy Graham shaped my life and ministry more than any other person just like he shaped the lives of countless millions of people around the world. It's no exaggeration to say that apart from the Apostle Paul, Graham influenced Christianity and the world more than any other individual not only in recent times, but in all of history. He possessed an exceptionally uncommon combination of humility and courage and that's why his impact was deep, wide, and awe-inspiring. It's also why his impact will span far beyond his passing and why his life is worthy of a deep, ongoing second look.
It's time to resurrect the spirit of Billy Graham, because our nation needs a boatload of Billy Grahams from all walks of life. We need blue collar and white collar Billy Grahams. Black and white Billy Grahams. Young, old, male and female Billy Grahams. Anyone can be like Billy Graham if they make it their ambition. In today's toxic times, what we all need. What can we learn from the life of Billy Graham at this perilous time in America?
First, he had an unwavering commitment to speak the truth in love. He was a master at this dying art. And, through the miracle of media, anyone can continue to learn how to do the same by simply watching or listening to him. By contrast, we Americans usually embrace one or the other, but rarely both. Today, we talk at one another. We don't know how to have a conversation, how to disagree agreeably, how to listen, or how to empathize. But Graham knew how to do it all, and practiced it powerfully. His impact, as a result, was monumental. Those who embrace Graham's humble, courageous approach to life and relationships will see their positive impact increase dramatically.
Second, Graham never saw people as the enemy. He knew how to love the sinner and hate the sin to separate any person from any ideology that may hold him or her captive. Today, many Americans have become experts at demonizing other people. We blur the lines between personhood and ideology and viola, hatred now characterizes much of American culture when love is needed more than ever.
Third, the source of Graham's humble courage was not his own it was the byproduct of spending time with his Savior, Jesus. We always become like the people with whom we spend the most time. Graham was an example of how Christ can change a life and make a person into something that they would otherwise never become. If you find yourself in need of transformation, look to Christ, as Billy Graham did. Spend time with Christ and his character will rub off on you. It did on Billy Graham, and the world was positively changed as a result.
Fourth, by Graham's own humble admission, there were far better orators God could have used besides him. But God used Billy above them all. Why? Because God does not need an orator as much as he needs a surrendered servant. God found that servant in Billy Graham. If you want, God can find that servant in anyone who simply makes his or herself available to him. He can find that servant in you.
Fifth, Graham knew not only his Savior, but also his calling and he never swerved from it. He had many people suggest and even offer to fund a Graham candidacy for the U.S. Senate and even the presidency. He refused every time because he knew that God had called him to preach the gospel. Such singlemindedness is rare in today's world where multi-tasking is esteemed among the most desirable traits a person can possess. In reality, multi-tasking may be the reason why so many are having so little an impact. We are distracted with lesser things, when we should be focused on what and Who matters most.
Finally, Graham believed that truth was not relative, but that it was (and is) absolute. He was committed to the whole counsel of the Bible, and embraced it as God's truth not only for himself, but for all people, everywhere. Is it any wonder God, the Author of truth, found such a man to be a desirable messenger?
It is impossible to estimate the impact of Billy Graham's life and ministry this side of eternity, because humble courage is a supernatural manifestation that has eternal ramifications. Lives will continue to be impacted by Billy Graham's life until the end of time. That's why now is a great time for each of us to closely examine the life and legacy of a man who embraced humble courage as the brick and mortar of his life. It's the great need in our nation right now and unless we see an uprising of humble courage in America, nothing will really change for the best. Michael Anthony is author of A Call For Courage a speaker and blogger at CourageMatters.com, and lead pastor of Grace Fellowship in York, Pennsylvania.
Freddie F5 Stars Out Of 5A MUST Read for Every Courageous Christian SoldierMarch 14, 2018Freddie FQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Pastor Anthony's first book--A Call for Courage--is an answer to my prayers! For many years, as an Elder and teacher, I've called on Christian men and women to get engaged in this fallen world. We have discussed and prayed on how to best navigate our way through it. While we know this is our temporary home, we cannot allow the advancement of secular-progressivism to steal away the souls of our children and grandchildren, after we're called home. A Call for Courage is the book ALL Christians should read, study, pray over and use to take those courageous stands! It is just not informative, but will provide Christ-centered instruction and guidance on how to take action! A MUST read!!!
