Publisher's Description

The True Story of How Two Quirky Stray Cats Changed Their Adopted Human Forever

After years of loving the vibrant city life in San Francisco, Lonnie Hull DuPont reluctantly trades her three-room apartment on foggy, lively Telegraph Hill for a farmhouse on a quiet plain in Michigan. She immediately misses the rhythm and the pace of the city, and the isolation country living brings has her longing for something more.

Enter Kit Kat and Lucy--stray cats who arrive at the farmhouse a year apart and each ask to move in. The antics and oddities of these two strong personalities wrapped in fur bring a new light to the farmhouse and DuPont's life. Kit Kat, an obsessive-compulsive tortoiseshell, can purr her new human into a happier state of mind. Lucy, the playful, leaping Russian Blue who can nail a bat right out of the air, makes her laugh.

From the hysterical process of getting two strange cats to like each other, to the exciting years of watching those cats thrive--and inspire DuPont in the process--this book is an energetic tale of cat and human foibles. Animals enrich our lives, and the heartwarming story of how Kit Kat and Lucy changed one woman's world will leave readers enchanted.

This was such a rewarding and lovely book to read that Im getting one for my mother, too! The stories and even lessons learned are just what any heart needs. Funny antics, sweet moments, heart breaking times and all through it are comforts of animals we sometimes take for granted. Everyone would love reading this I highly recommend it! This author puts her heart out there and tells us how her world was changed by these two fabulous felines. Even the secondary characters grabbed my heart and made me smile! (Alberta!) Loved every minute of it and is now a bookshelf keeper.

First, the disclaimer. "I was provided a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own." That done, KIT KAT AND LUCY is a really really fun story that I totally loved. It made me laugh, and it made me cry. As I read this story, I shared parts of it out loud with my family. My dad loved what I read so much he asked to read the book next.

Memoirs aren't exactly my genre of choice, but I loved this author's voice and getting to know more about her adjustment from city girl to country girl and about the cats that she loved. It gives me hope that the stray cat that adopted our family might someday move into our house and our hearts instead of being content to stay outside (or maybe it just relishes it's freedom).

Animals are truly a gift from God and they shower us humans with love. We've always had a pet, usually dogs, but are adopted by a cat or two or stay for a time then move on. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves animals (especially cats!), memoirs, and country life. It is hilarious! 5 stars!

When we lived in the country we had lots of cats. They each had very distinct personalities and they never ceased to amuse or surprise us. I am an animal lover,

any kind of animal. I was drawn to this book by the cover and of course the fact that was a personal story about a persons beloved pets. I have to admit I was a bit concerned. Many books like this are, well to put it politely, boring and mundane. Also my past experience with several has been the author talking more about themselves than the pet the book is supposed to be about.

This book was anything but boring! I found it entertaining, humorous and I learned many new things I did not know about cats and why the act the way they do. The author had the perfect balance in sharing personal history about herself and her beloved cats. They complimented each other.

Kit Kat and Lucy were both rescues that found the DuPonts. Like most felines they waltzed into their lives and claimed the family lock, stock, and barrel. I applaud Ms. DuPont for her openness about her depression and anxiety. The story wrapped around my heart about how Kit Kat and Lucy responded in very sensitive and amazing ways to comfort and uplift her. Ways that only a pet owner would believe and understand. I related as since my husbands death, I for the first time experience panic attacks. My dog Bill helps me with his show of canine concern and love. The cats antics and manipulation of their skin parents were hilarious. For me it proved the old saying, You dont own cats, they own you. This book was a joy and a blessing to read!!

I received a copy of this book from Revell Reads. All opinions are my own.

I received a complimentary copy. As an animal love I was very excited to get the opportunity to read this book.

I'm not sure that Kit Kit & Lucy turned out to be what I expected.

I was expecting an interesting novel. What I received was a

very well written and a little humorous memoir.

Although I made an attempt to 'get into' the book so that I could write a review I was not able to finish.

I am leaving this book on my book shelf and if I get a chance

I'll pick it up again and give it another try.

What do you get with two crazy cats and an old farmhouse? Tons of crazy adventures, of course! I enjoyed reading about DuPonts cats - how they inspired her writing and were her constant companions during the highs and lows of life. Meet Kit Kat, a cat with a strong personality who makes just as strong an impression on both Lonnie and her husband. Determined to stay with them, Kit Kat travels eight miles to come home. And then there is Lucy, a playful cat who likes to teach her people how to play the games she creates - one of those games being called You Fetch, an interesting variation of your typical game of fetch. But cats arent the only animals to make an appearance, there is a chicken named Alberta who shows up and decides to live outside the farmhouse. She is a social little hen who enjoys being spoken to. I like that this book demonstrates how animals can teach us lessons in life when we are willing to look and listen. I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my review.
