A Four of Hearts Romance Series Book Two
Bo Monahan along with his two brothers, have been working to save their ranch and there hasn't been time for dating, or much else. He wasn't the man he used to be, but sometimes the past catches up to you...and sometimes that past mixes with the present and future.
Abby Knightly had read all of Maggie Hope's, now Monahan, columns and fell in love with the small town of Wishing Springs, Texas. Her friends and family thought they were helping her, but they were really keeping her in the past. It was time to move forward. Oh, she would never love again...but maybe she could be happy.
Life never quite turns out as you plan. For Bo, it was a woman he felt responsible for after an accident and his past showing up...literally...on his doorstep. For Abby it was the attraction to a cowboy...an attraction that she didn't want. She couldn't let go of her past, or the guilt that came with it. The first book is Bo's brother's story; Betting on Hope. The third book; Kissed by a Cowboy is his eldest brother, Jarrod's, story.
tickmenotKansas CityGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Will She Always Say Goodbye to Love?September 26, 2015tickmenotKansas CityGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Welcome to Wishing Springs, Texas, a place brimming over with small town charm, and home of the most eligible bachelors, at least that is what the latest hype says. But a relationship is that last thing newcomer Abby Knightly wants. She has just moved to town, and brought lots of baggage--most of it the kind that can't be seen.
A young widow still recovering from her loss, Abby wants a fresh start. She hopes to move forward from the night a drunk driver caused the death of her husband, and stole her dreams for the future. She has spent the past two years so full of regret and grief that she hasn't been able to function. Moving to Wishing Springs is her last chance to get her life back.
Love is everywhere when you don't want it!
Abby runs into rancher Bo Monahan, literally, as she is coming into town. That chance encounter causes Abby to be with Bo when he has the surprise of his life. A baby is left on his front porch, with a note claiming he is the child's father.
All these events set into motion entanglements that Abby wants no part of. She made this move to help herself heal. Instead finds a baby that is working his way into her heart, and a cowboy who desperately wants her to give him a chance. Abby also discovers her landlord, Rand, is an alcoholic. She finds herself directing all the anger she has for the drunk driver that killed her husband towards Rand.
Counting on a Cowboy also has the side-story of Pebbles and Rand. The two fell hard for each other in high school, but Pebbles pulled back because of Rand's fast lifestyle. After that, Rand left town for decades, but never stopped loving her. Since coming back and finding that Pebbles is a widow, he has been he has been relentlessly pursuing her. However, Pebbles refuses to have a relationship with him because of his alcoholism.
Run, don't walk, from starting a relationship with pain attached.
This is a great story that covers lots of topics but does it well, and keeps the reader's interest. Alcoholism and it's tragic consequences are woven throughout the story. Abby's tragedy is the result of a drunk driver. Rand is a raging alcoholic which is preventing Pebbles from ever considering him as a love interest. This story does not sugar coat the tragedies, and lost opportunities that drinking creates in people's lives. But there is also love, humor and some quirky characters peppering the tale.
This is book two in the Four of Hearts Ranch Romance series, but this story stands on its own. I highly recommend this 5-star book to anyone who enjoys realistic romantic stories told from a Christian viewpoint.

Jenny5 Stars Out Of 5Counting on a CowboySeptember 12, 2015JennyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Counting of a Cowboy (Four of Heart Ranch) by Debra Clopton
Three cowboy brothers, a grandfather with Alzheimers and a town full of lovable characters is a good start to the story, but add a young widow recovering from a tragic accident that haunts her a baby that is dropped on the porch with a note saying the baby belongs to one of the brother and it becomes a great story. This book was fun! Three men dealing with diaper changes, dealing with baby spit up, feeding is humorous. The town knowing what happens almost as soon as it happens is somewhat realistic for the size of the town. The book isnt all fun though. Debra addresses issues like Alzheimers, and combines a side story that runs through both books in dealing with the main characters feelings about alcoholism and drunk driving. The characters are authentic and were easy to identify with but also very likable. The book is a pleasure to read, but I like to read books that have an epilogue. If you read the next book, (which I always do with Debras books) you will find out more about the current character, but I still like to have a satisfying conclusion at the end of the book.
KatrinaWestern KyAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Wonderful RomanceSeptember 8, 2015KatrinaWestern KyAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Debra Clopton and Thomas Nelson brings us the second installment in A Four of Hearts Ranch series, but for me this was definitely a stand alone book. It's a wonderful, contemporary romance about loss, grief and dealing with moving on. The strong, well developed characters will grab you at page one, and the storyline will keep you turning the pages until the end.
Abby Knightley is a character that grabbed my heart instantly. She knows all about loss. 2 years ago a wreck claimed the lives of her husband and unborn child. In the blink of an eye her entire life was changed and so was she. Her grief has consumed her life since the wreck and I think to some extent survivors guilt also. She decides in order to move on she must not only change her physical address, but move to a place where no one really knows her history.
She has picked the small town of Whisperings, Texas. It's a small rural community and a place she thinks will an easy place to hide and deal with her grief. Unfortunately her arrival comes with a literal bang when she almost hits a steer in the road and has to swerve into a fence to avoid hitting it.
Confirmed bachelor, Bo Monahan, likes his life just the way it is, almost. He lives on the ranch with his two brothers and grandfather, who is suffering from Alzheimer disease. Bo is well known for the stirrups he designs and keeps busy with orders for them. He has moved in with his grandfather due to his declining health. Needless to say he is a busy man and really doesn't have the time or inclination to date. '
Bo and Abby meet by chance, but the attraction is instant.
The author brings humor, tragedy, and of course romance to this story.
Abby is sweet and caring, but also afraid to start living again. Bo is cocky, but confident. Of course when he sees the pain in Abby's eyes he instantly knows that she's seen heartbreak. He wants to make her smile again.
This is a wonderful story that I would recommend to anyone.
I received this book from the publisher through Netgalley for a honest review without bias or outside influence as stated above. I would like to thank them for this opportunity.
