Thanksgiving is traced back to the 1621 feast by Pilgrims and Wampanoag Indian people group in Plymouth, MA. For more than three centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn't until 1941 that Americans officially began celebrating Thanksgiving Day as a national holiday.
