Series: On-the-Go Devotionals
This On-the-Go Devotional assures women that contentment is not some fleeting ideal but a reality that God enables them to live out daily.
Any woman who buys into the lie of "You can have it all" or who thinks she can only be happy "if…" experiences an abiding frustration: what she wants remains just out of reach, always. No matter how good she has it, no matter how good the good times may get, there's always something missing. And ultimately, she misses out on happiness too.
But God desires something far better and more lasting for his daughters. And he's delivered the secret in his Word, assuring women that real satisfaction is found in living for and longing for the right things. Those truths and promises are at the heart of this On-the-Go Devotional for women. Each lesson in Contentment is conveniently self-contained and comes complete with Scripture and a paragraph or two of teaching to direct women away from fleeting distractions and toward a true, enduring satisfaction.
"Skillful devotionals for those who face the challenge to 'fit it all in.' Biblically rigorous and deeply perceptive. Godly insights from a godly sister."
Elyse Fitzpatrick, author of Because He Loves Me: How Christ Transforms Our Daily Life
"A ready resource for keeping our thinking focused on God himself. The devotionals helped me understand my fear or discontent and our Heavenly Father's provision."
Barbara Hughes, author of Disciplines of a Godly Woman and, with her husband, Disciplines of a Godly Family
"Lydia Brownback calls Christian women to lift their eyes upward and find security, rest, and peace in a sovereign God whose promises never fail!"
Nancy Leigh DeMoss, author and Revive Our Hearts radio host
However, God intends for us to be content. In Contentment: A Godly Womans Adornment, Lydia Brownback takes us on a daily walk in scripture to help us find contentment, which she says is synonymous with happiness. Each of her thirty-two short, two-to-three page devotionals introduces a scriptural passage, such as Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, Matthew 13:45-46, and I Timothy 6:6-8. Brownback then applies them to our lives in a friendly, straightforward manner. Though brief, they are not trite, shallow, or silly.
In fact, Contentment impressed me with its depth. Brownback points the reader to the fact that sin destroys contentment and to the importance of immediate obedience. She offers the hope of contentment through seeking to find God as our all while acknowledging our pain and cultural temptations.
This little booklet would make an excellent personal devotional, a great gift, or a fine mother-daughter resource. -- Debbie W. Wilson, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
SmileyCulbertson, NE4 Stars Out Of 5This product is a great read.January 24, 2011SmileyCulbertson, NEQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My friend and I, live thousands of miles apart. We both want a closer relationship with Christ. I called her and asked if she wanted to do a devotional together, and she said yes, so I purchased this book. While we haven't done more than two yet, we have both enjoyed the two that we have done. It brings up things that I haven't thought about, and the quick read devotinals help me to be able to get them done in 15-20 minutes. Which is immportant having a three year old and a new born at home. The devotinals have been great.

Pat Chadwick5 Stars Out Of 5April 25, 2008Pat ChadwickThis is a wonderful devotional for women on a topic close to our hearts. Happiness often alludes us because we want something more in life. Sometimes it is hard to be like the Apostle Paul, being "content in every circumstance" (Philippians 4:11). This little devotional helps you to focus on the good things God has done in your life and to be grateful. It is biblically sound and the author shares wisdom that many women today need to not only hear but absorb.
