Contemporary Pentecostal Christianity: Interpretations from an African Context

Pentecostalism is the fastest-growing stream of Christianity in the world. The real evidence for the significance of Pentecostalism lies in the actual churches built and the number of people attracted. In Africa, Pentecostalism has virtually become the representative face of Christianity, with even historic mission denominations "pentecostalizing" their otherwise formal liturgical structures to survive. This work interprets key theological and missiological themes in African Pentecostalism by using material from the lived experiences of the movement itself.

Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu is the professor of Christianity and Pentecostal/Charismatic Theology at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Accra, Ghana. He is also the Seminary's Director of Graduate Studies and chairs its Center for the Study of Christianity in Africa. Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu studied at the Trinity Theological Seminary and the University of Ghana and in the year 2000, he obtained a PhD in Theology from the University of Birmingham, UK.
