Tell us a little about yourself. One wonderful wife, five great kids. Serve as Director of Spiritual Formation at Dallas Seminary. Originally from Topeka, Kansas now live near Dallas, Texas. Love golf, politics, University of Kansas Basketball, and Texas barbecue. I also enjoy speaking at men's weekend retreats, father/daughter and/or father/son events, and family camps.
What was your motivation behind this project? Encouraging parents to give their best efforts to the incredible task of raising their "tween" (8 to 12 year old).
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? This book helps parents understand the process "tweens" go through as they move from childhood to adolescence. Today's culture is so much different than what most parents experienced.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Chuck Swindoll, Howard Hendricks, Ken Canfield, Josh McDowell, Robert Lewis, Dennis Rainey, David Blankenhorn, Kent Hughes, Darrell Bock, Dallas Willard, Rich Mullins, and Jim Congdon.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Today's "tweens" are yesterday's teens. Societal pressures have made today's 8 to 12 year olds vulnerable to the temptations and traps that yesterdays adolescents faced. We now live in the wired, connected, on-line age, and tweens need healthy, balanced parents now more than ever.
