Publisher's Description

The age-old assertion that "A person cannot be born gay," true or not, has served as a burdensome shackle around the neck of the black church, producing a phobia that impedes its ability to focus on the task of making disciples as commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a belief more rooted in tradition than Scripture, as I have argued in this book. Moreover, it has added fuel to the firestorm of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Movement that has swept the country.

We must confront the reality that irrespective of the cause of homosexuality, whether it is genetic or social, it is indeed a growing presence in our families, community, and churches. As such, it is a threat that we cannot simply ignore or think that we can pray away. In this book, I have attempted to explore and explain the range of homosexuality as well as the claims of the Gay-affirming Christian community, which is itself a debatable concept. In so doing, I have placed their Scripture twisting alongside the conclusions that sound hermeneutics demands to prove their errors. Most importantly, I have provided guidelines for confronting the issue with the quintessential reminder that the Great Commission is not to make heterosexuals, but rather to make disciples.
