Author/Artist Review

Author: Diane and David Munson
Submitted: August 06, 2010

Tell us a little about yourself.  We are Diane and David Munson, ExFeds, and writers of High Velocity Suspense that's based on our exciting careers in the Federal justice system. Diane is an attorney who served as a Federal prosecutor and also as an official in President Ronald Reagan's Justice Department. David is a former Federal agent who served with the Drug Enforcement Administration and Naval Investigative Service, now known as NCIS (just like the TV show). Much of his work as an undercover agent was dangerous and he infiltrated international drug smuggling organization. Writing together is a tremendous blessing!

What was your motivation behind this project?  Friends who knew about our backgrounds urged us to write a book about our exciting careers. When a Christian publishing company made the same suggestion, we decided to write Christian suspense novels. "Confirming Justice" is our second and we wanted to weave a plot involving the power plays in Washington when a judge is nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court and the impact on his family.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  It's our goal to write an exciting suspense novel where the reader gets a realistic glimpse of how our justice system really works and to provide a wholesome family-friendly novel revealing Christian law enforcement officers living and working with others who do not share their faith.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  The research and travel we did for "Confirming Justice" was so enjoyable, especially worshiping at a wonderful Baptist Church in the Big Cypress Swamp.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Reviewers (Christian Fiction Review and others) have favorably compared our writing to John Grisham. Inspiration comes from our faith, God's creation, and love of family. Robert Whitlow and Jane Austen are favorite authors.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  We call our novels "factional-fiction," as each one contains bits and pieces of true cases or events. The names and places are changed to protect us. We have helped several adopted persons to be introduced to their biological parents. In "Confirming Justice" FBI agent Griff Topping searches for the birth family of a Federal judge. The book gives an inside look into international drug smuggling based on one of David's undercover cases.
