Product Description

Where does the Bible fit into the life and times of our non-Christian friends, family, and acquaintances, as well as our own? Within today's culture it is not uncommon to see Christians struggling with the exact same issues about the Bible as their non-Christian friends. We read the same blogs, watch the same documentaries, and breathe the same cultura air as our non-Christian friends, leaving us with nagging doubts about the Bible's ultimate authoriry, trustworthiness, and relevance.

Authors Michael Ovey and Daniel Strange address these doubts and questions head-on in Confident: Why We Can Trust the Bible, offering both inward and outward tips and suggestions as to how we can place our complete trust in Scripture in a way that protects us from unbelief, assures and strengthens our faith, and equips us to engage our non-Christian friends about the authority and relevance of Scripture for everyday life.

In this engagingly written and pastorally sensitive book, barriers to engaging the Bible seriously are gently but effectively dismantled and current challenges to biblical authority and relevance are convincingly answered. Read this book! - Mark D Thompson, Principal, Moore Theological College, Sydney

There isn't anything quite like it! The great thing about this book is the way it deals with the difficulties of belief in the Bible as the Word of God as a set of highly contemporary issues, some quite subtle but all highly important. - Julian Hardyman, Senior Pastor, Eden Baptist Church, Cambridge

...intellectually satisfying, spiritually edifying and a most useful addition to your apologetic tool bag. It is presented in easily digestible portions but will add to both your knowledge and your confidence in using the Bible. What a super book! - David Meredith, Minister of Smithton Free Church of Scotland, Inverness

...here's a great book to insert vertebra into our elastic spine! In an accessible but robust way, it strengthens our confidence in scripture, builds a compelling apologetic for our conversations with non-Christians, and urges us to follow Jesus' example by living wholeheartedly by that transforming Word. - Jonathan Lamb, Keswick Ministries, CEO and minister-at-large

Speaking both to the wider society and the Church, Daniel Strange and Mike Ovey challenge the sceptical, cynical and embarrassed approaches to the Bible, and provoke us to a greater confidence in this amazing God given gift to humanity. -Steve Clifford, General Director, Evangelical Alliance, UK

Editorial Reviews

... the authors do a great job in bringing intelligent Christians up to speed so that they can confidently 'stand on every promise of your Word.'
... truly refreshing to read such a book that does not compromise one bit on the historic Christian view of the Scriptures as the Word of God. Too often today preachers seem to apologise for the Bible, Strange and Ovey do no such thing. There is no compromising with postmodernism, just a straightforward presentation of why the Bible is the word of God and what that means for us.
