Noteworthy: This author is one of a special group of women who writes for (in)courage, the popular online friendship community. Every day they take turns pulling up a chair to share their stories of what Jesus looks like in their every day, gloriously ordinary, and often messy lives.
If you read the (in)courage blog online, then you'll be sure to enjoy this title.

Swope addresses several areas of doubt and confidence. She also covers Gods perfecting love that provides healing grace for our painful past. Swope's style is personable, addressing the reader directly. She brings in many of her life circumstances, letting the reader see little bits of her story. Her views on Scripture make for enjoyable reading as well. When talking about the story of Jesus and the woman at the well, she carefully examines all aspects of the narrative. She brings to light several facts that readers perhaps never noticed.
At the end of every chapter there is a prayer that reflects passages of Scripture, along with several discussion questions. At the end of the book, there is a helpful chart of Gods biblical promises and how they apply to our lives. Swope, a Proverbs 31 Ministries member, had struggles with confidence and doubt even after she became a Christian. Her story is touching and shows women in similar predicaments that they are not alone.
The main point to this book is how to live without doubting God's grace and promises. I found myself enjoying every chapter and each story. A Confident Heart effectively gives courage and hope to its readers in a gentle, victorious way. Swope's personal anecdotes bring realism into her book. There were a few stretches of drier material, but they were still important. I particularly recommend this book for middle-aged women who need a kind word of encouragement and confidence.
