Sarah5 Stars Out Of 5Great book! Highly RecommendSeptember 21, 2019SarahQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Maria wrote an excellent book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It will defiantly be a recommendable book. She took our own confidence as a mom and showed how we can be an influence to our daughters. Weather that is a good or bad one. How we look at ourselves, our daughters see that. This put into perspective, what we say sometimes and how we view ourselves, passes down to our daughters. This has a wrap up after each chapter that you can do with your daughters and questions for yourself. Scripture is weaved in and also a prayer at the end of each chapter.
This will personally be a book that I will have in a book club and recommend.
Helianthus5 Stars Out Of 5An ideal resource for moms of tween and teen daughtersSeptember 21, 2019HelianthusQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I had the pleasure of meeting Maria Furlough at She Speaks 2018. Her book Breaking the Fear Cycle easily made my list of the best books of 2018. She is a talented writer who exudes godly confidence and shows passion for God's people. Since I have a tween-aged daughter, I was thrilled to dig into this copy meant just for moms like me.
Her opening story hooked me right away, about a mom she observed with major confidence. Maria makes the point that if we are going to raise confident daughters in this challenging culture, we moms must put on Christ-centered confidence for ourselves. She writes with clarity and vulnerability, backing up chapters with current research. Maria will guide you in talking lovingly and directly with your daughter about body image, sex, character development, social media use, and more.
I plan to use this book as a springboard for discussions with my 11-year-old daughter. She's showing signs of being teachable and open to my advice, and with Maria's help, I will know how to direct our conversation in a positive, God-pleasing manner. If you have a tween or teen daughter, grab a copy of this book today!
I received a preview copy of Confident Moms, Confident Daughters from Revell.
Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great book for momsSeptember 18, 2019Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: femaleThis is such a great book for mom's to read and share with their daughters what they glean from the book. This book covers so much information from appearance and body image to nutrition to spiritual and physical fitness. It encourages moms to be like Jesus. She includes verses and ends each chapter with a confident mom challenge and confident daughter questions as well as a prayer. She reminds us that our daughters need words of encouragement and positive reinforcement of what they are good at, what they excel in, and how her God given gifts are being demonstrated in her life.
One thing I found really helpful in this book was how to talk with our daughters. How to take a conversation that could come out negatively and give it a positive twist. How to get to the real issues at hand, what they are really thinking and maybe why they are thinking that way.
Honestly I could go on and on about the book and whats so great about it, but you really should read it for yourself. I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a book that helps you connect with your daughter and the world she lives in.
I was blessed to receive a copy of this book courtesy of Revell. I was not asked or required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
