Publisher's Description

If there is one thing Lincee Ray has learned over the years, it's that the majority of women on the planet struggle with insecurities. Our skinny jeans mock us. Our just-trying-to-help mothers are just driving us crazy. Our social media feeds taunt us with everyone else's picture-perfect lives. It's enough to send you on a gummy-bear bender while binge-watching Friends reruns and not showering for a week. Lincee knows. She's been there. Right there, in fact. Gummy bears and all.

For every woman who's ever wondered if she's unlovable, uninteresting, or unattractive, Lincee offers her particular brand of hilarious (and hard-hitting) self-reflection. Like a true friend, she shows us that the fastest way to happiness is to embrace ourselves in all our imperfection, trust that God knew what he was doing when he made us, and maybe go buy a new tube of mascara. Walk alongside Lincee as she discovers that her identity is not found in her job, her relationship status, her bank account, or her social circle. It's found in Christ.

Everyone I know likes green beans. Just not me. And obviously, not Lincee Ray.

Why I Hate Green Beans is a fun compilation of many experiences in Lincees adult life, shared in a down-to-earth, refreshing style.

Having laughed my way through much of the book, I had just told my husband that this book was not very much about God. Wow, was I wrong!! Lincee was just arriving at her crisis point. All of the sudden, I was crying and aching with Lincee, hoping she would find God to be sufficient. (She does.)

This book was very timely for me. It can be helpful for anyone struggling with how to handle hard times. As Lincee says,

In the middle of a time when I had no idea what I was going to do, I decided to focus on what I did know. God is good... Trials will come...Hes got this...

I highly recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and NetGalley and was in no way required to leave a positive review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is one of my favorite nonfiction books that I have read. This is very funny and insightful. I love how she writes and what she says. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I loved this book. The author opens up and tells her story. This story will bring both a smile to your face and you might shed a tear while reading it. It brought forth so many emotions for me. Lincee is much younger than me, but when she opened up about her memories from school I was right there going through my own memories, insecurities, mistakes and successes. I was hooked right then and there. As she opens up about her life up until this point I read both raw and real emotions. She encourages other women by saying none of us are perfect, far from it, but when we depend on God all things are possible. While reading this book I kept thinking I wish I would tell Lincee that I understood what she was going through and that I would love to be her friend. Yes, this is a book that you can relate to.

This is a book I would recommend to anyone. I received this book from the publisher as part of their book bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I can relate to Lincee Ray's hatred of green beans. My mom tried to get me to eat them because they were a vegetable while Lincee's mom thought they were the answer to any issue. If you need a funny book that truly relates to your life then Why i hate green beans needs to be on your list of books to read. Lincee developed a love and talent for writing after she started sharing her thoughts on a tv show, The Bachelor. When she realized her friends loved her commentary and were sharing it with all their friends she realized she might have a talent for writing :) We ladies struggle with insecurities in all forms. If we have wrinkles, are we getting gray, are we overweight, etc...We have to learn to embrace the mind and body that God gave us and propel ourselves forward and not backwards. Lincee Ray helps to let the reader know that everyone has insecurities, but that's not how God wants us to live. This is a super quick and easy read that will help lift the spirits on any down day you might be having.

Lincee Ray has a great sense of humor about all things female living in America and really trying to live well. She tells great stories of growing up in the 80's & 90's, which bring back such vivid memories from my own young adult years. Plus the added bonus for me - she's from Florida. All of the references to places familiar to residents of the Sunshine state were icing on the cake for me. I laughed out loud and nodded my head as I read Lincee's tales of living a testimony in living color. Her vulnerability and humor are refreshing in 2018. I'll recommend this book to all my friends seeking a fun spring break or summer read!
