An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), he was previously Associate for Theology in the Office of Theology and Worship. He is the author of Encounters with Orthodoxy: How Protestant Churches Can Reform Themselves Again, After Baptism: Shaping the Christian Life, and Why Scripture Matters: Reading the Bible in a Time of Church Conflict.
