25 Complex Text Passages to Meet the Common Core: Literature and Informational Texts: Grade 5

Created in order to meet the CCSS standard "that students read increasingly complex texts through the grades" this 5th grade workbook features instruction focused on both literary and informational texts. Twenty-five reproducible, one-page passages present a variety of genres, forms, purposes, tones, and organizational structure; they're arranged in order of Lexile score with each line numbered for easy student-teacher communication. The questions following each passage cover key ideas and details, craft and structure, and integration of knowledge and ideas, and range from simple recall to deeper questions that require analysis. A section of teaching notes is provided for each lesson, which gives teaches the focus, tips for before/during/after reading time, common core standards, a complexity index, and ideas for helping readers.
