The Complete Vocabulary Guide to the Greek New Testament sets a new standard as the most comprehensive book of its kind. Covering the entire vocabulary of the Greek New Testament, this revision of The Student's Complete Vocabulary Guide to the Greek New Testament contains changes that make it more useful than ever as a benchmark vocabulary study book and reference tool. - Goodrick / Kohlenberger numbers have been added to the index, allowing fast cross-referencing to the NIV Exhaustive Concordance and the Greek-English Concordance. - The section on Principal Parts of Verbs, showing all the verbs used in the New Testament, now includes column headings on each page for greater ease of use. - The Frequency List of Words is marked with a gray edge for easy location and to define preceding and ensuing sections. - New introductions are included for each section. - The new hardcover binding offers sturdier construction and better protection.

It is full of help in building vocabulary. I used the Metzger Lexical Aids book years ago but this goes much beyond that. Vocabulary is organized by roots in one section and by frequency in another. Another section lists every verb in the NT and all the principal parts of those verbs that appear in the NT.
This book allowed me to systematically work my way down to learning all NT Greek words used 3x or more (sadly, that was about 4 years ago and I've 'regressed' a bit-but still have the card I made up!).
There are many grammars that take take you beyond your first year of Greek, but few resources for vocabulary. This one is great.

I must admit when I first received it I was a bit overwhelmed because of the amount of information, but I have come to really appreciate it. It is like a blown up and complete version of Metgzer's book "Lexical Aids for Students..." I would recommend both of these books actually. Even though this is a hardcover, it is relatively light because of the type of paper it is printed on. I would say it is portable as well, though not as much as Metzger's vocab book. The quality seems to be good, as it has held up for me. There is no more complete place to turn for Greek vocab than this book. I would say it goes best though accompanied with Bill Mounce's flash cards set.
Rick Harrington5 Stars Out Of 5November 29, 2006Rick HarringtonA must for the Greek Student wanting to master the vocabulary of the GNT. His listing of every word of the NT listed by frequency up to and including hapax legomena is invaluable. The quickest way to learn the most vocab in the shortest amount of time.
