Compassion, the first study in the Bethesda Series, features 19 flexible lesson plans focused on how Jesus demonstrates compassion as he relates to people. Designed to help disciple adults or young adults affected by disability, each lesson centers on one passage of scripture, bringing it to life through reading, drawing, and role-play. Features:
- Guided interactive approach enables all students—both those affected by disability and typical peers—to discover key teachings of the lesson for themselves.
- Study can be used one-on-one, or with a small group.
- Group reading is made easy because Bible passages are included and color-coded.
- Reminder sheets and drawings are included to help students remember what they have learned

"The Word of God should be - must be - accessible to all, and people with intellectual disabilities, young and old, are no exception. This is why I'm so excited that my friend Jill Miller has developed a robust Bible curriculum that engages the student in real Bible study. Jill and her team have gone to great pains to ensure that this curriculum is interactive and appealing to students, and I highly applaud her efforts. The Bethesda Series is a ‘must’ for every church that desires to make Christ’s Gospel accessible to all, and the best place to start is Unit 1, Compassion. Thank you, Jill, for a job well done!"

About the Bethesda Series
Welcome to Bethesda!
By Jill Miller
When I am around people that others see as "dis-abled," I see "abled." One of those abilities is relentless faith. Kim is the fourth of our six kids. She was able to keep up in Sunday School up to first grade, and then, because of her multiple challenges, she got frustrated with all the scissors and interaction with the other kids and teachers.
I believe all of us can learn. We are made in the image of God, and God is limitless. I don't believe in ceilings where people stop learning. With this in mind, I looked at curriculum for Kim and her friends. The material I reviewed looked too simple. Good teachers expose students to concepts that they may never understand. I remember being taught trigonometry and thinking, "What in the world is this man trying to teach me!" But that didn't stop him from exposing me to the information and giving me an opportunity to "grab" what I could. This is what I have tried to do with the Bethesda Series.
Every week my friends in the class teach me. I learn from them! I need their faith and warm honesty. My hope is that the beauty of Jesus will be seen through "the least of these!"
