Product Description

In 2012, a mass of blue collar voters, enough to have tipped the balance of the electoral college in favor of the Republican candidate, simply stayed home on election day. Why? Despite their deeply conservative values, they had lost faith that the Republicans spoke for them and had their backs. In Blue Collar Conservatives, Rick Santorum calls for the GOP to get back in touch with this base. Enough with pandering, enough with focusing on business owners to the exclusion of everyone else - the vast majority of Americans - who work for them. Republicans need to regain the trust of the hard-working members of every family, church, and community across America whose most immediate problems are lack of jobs and opportunity.

Publisher's Description

Once upon a time, Ronald Reagan was a Republican leader so charismatic he won over an entire segment of “Reagan Democrats.” Today, the Republican party can barely muster its own base. Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum provides a game plan for Republicans to bounce back, regain popularity, and return to the party’s original values: the solution rests on rediscovering blue collar conservatives.

Enough with pandering, enough with focusing on business owners to the exclusion of everyone else – the vast majority of Americans – who work for them. Republicans need to regain the trust of the hard-working members of every family, church, and community across America whose most immediate problems are lack of jobs and opportunity.

This inspiring and challenging new book is sure to make a splash this mid-election year and beyond.

After reading Blue Collar Conservatives, my overall sense is that Barack Obama, having led our nation down the wrong track during his first term, and now seemingly off the tracks since his re-election, has done great harm to the original concept of the American dream.

Rick Santorum urges his fellow Republicans to change course in 2014 and beyond. He correctly points out the need to reconnect with "Reagan Democrats" and the millions making up America's workforce in general, instead of focusing on the CEO's and the Board members of major corporations.

If Senator Santorum's blueprint for renewing freedom and opportunity in America is adopted by the GOP, I believe there will be hope for our nation again!

Rick Santorum is "right on" about how many workers perceive that they have been "left behind" by the liberal Democrats whose solutions are government handouts and by most conservatives and Republicans who appealed to big business, the rich, and entrepreneurs. It is not Barack Obama who can produce "hope and change"—it is Rick Santorum! I think that so many Americans who have been convinced by the political rhetoric of liberal Democrats and the failure of many conservative Republicans to address struggling working class and middle class people that although conservatives and Republicans are on the right track concerning social/moral issues, "the Republican party is the party of the rich" need to read BLUE COLLAR CONSERVATIVES, and they AND the Republican party need to take Rick Santorum seriously.

In his new book Blue Collar Conservatives, Rick Santorum tells the story of what ails Middle America and the GOP by painting a picture of a fictional family living in Mahoning County, Ohio. The book highlights concerns about America's uncompetitive manufacturing sector, declining marriage culture, dysfunctional education system, over-regulated health insurance market, insolvent entitlement programs and unfair tax code. Instead of throwing canned red meat at the above listed challenges, Rick Santorum lays practical solutions with the wisdom and judgment of an experienced problem solver. Once in a generation, a politician comes along who gets it. Rick Santorum is that man.

Blue Collar Conservatives is the game plan I've been waiting to see. The Republican party would do well to read Senator Santorum's simple yet promising ideas to save our country, one blue collar conservative at a time.

Don't be surprised, though, when you see that this is much more than a book about middle income jobs. Senator Santorum eloquently explains how family is our first economy, and "family makes us stronger."

He details why the social programs of today are harming, not helping, struggling families and why the Affordable Care Act is not the answer to health care woes. For those who don't know, Senator Santorum was responsible for initiating the first health savings account bill, so he speaks with authority.

Blue Collar Conservatives is the game plan I've longed for, so I want to say "Game on!"
