This book kept me mesmerized, and I kept turning page after page, wondering when the all to real nightmare of basically defunding the police in La Rosa, California would end. As event after event transpires, can Danni and her ex-husband Gabriel figure out who is behind all the chaos.

Recent events around the United States have made this scenario all too real. Fortunately, this one is fiction, but it certainly gives the reader a feel for why police departments are having a hard time staying staffed. The author is fantastic, and this is a wonderful clean suspense novel which I highly recommend. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I am freely writing a review - all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am afraid I found this a bit down and depressing as it dealt with the issues of police relations, racial/cultural tensions and rioting. Whilst I appreciated that it respectfully and accurately depicted what is currently happening in the USA, it was a bit too heavy for me. I guess I was not in the right frame of mind for it and was looking for a bit more escapism and something to bring hope and joy into my day. However I thought that this book did a good job of showing the good and the bad of policing and how complex the situation can be given the current political climate.

There was a sweet second chance romance and I enjoyed seeing divorced Danni and Gabe reconnect. The faith aspects of the story were also handled well.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

In a thrilling adventure that feels torn from the frontpage. Detective Danni Grace is shaken after an anti-police riot, and now she must investigate a case involving known anti-police activist. Every step closer is thwarted by commands from farther up the ladder, as co-workers are suspended and framed. Can Danni and Gabe get to the bottom of the case before more people get hurt?

A engaging and compelling read, though it could be uncomfortable for readers who are looking for and escape from the real world. I found this book so hard to put down, and couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. I thought that this book did a good job of showing the good and the bad of policing, while balancing relationship building, suspense, and a mystery that kept me engaged and guessing.

Overall, this was a well written read with compelling characters. I liked the strong themes of faith, justice, and second chances, especially seeing Gabe and Danni reconnect. A heart pounding suspense, that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book feels very relevant to the culture we're in today. As rioters call for the end of the police, crime rises and seems out of control. Danni is disheartened when people won't even listen to the facts but instead believe what they want to believe is true. She's further frustrated when the higher ups at the PD won't let them do their jobs. This all feels so familiar as we saw it played out in Minneapolis, my city.

Cantore's experience as a police officer shines in this book. The details are so vivid. I felt I was there on a ride-along. There was a steady pace and progression to the cases they were working. There's a lot of action and intensity. There were even a few surprise twists to further complicate matters. It was a great suspense. I'd highly recommend it.

Thank you to Tyndale House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

When La Rosa detective Danni Grace is injuried on the job she takes a leave of absence to reevaluate her plans and her future. If she hadn't been forced to take time off she never would have walked away. But now, she's stepped back enough to realize she's lost her passion for the only job she ever wanted. When she finds out a fellow officer is accused of murder her detective instincts kick in. But is it enough to make her return to the job? Can she tap in to her code of courage enough to work for a community that seems to be turning against her and her fellow officers? Soon she finds herself face to face with her ex-husband and former best friend, Invesigator Gabriel Fox. Can she trust him? What happened between them? What is up with people at his office? Has the whole town gone mad?

The pages of this story are filled with action, mystery, new cases, cold cases, on the job injuries, good guys, and monsters. Meanwhile faith reigns throughout the lives of the characters. Where does God stand? Can He be trusted? Why doesn't He intervene?

I am always intrigued by Janice Cantore's stories. As a former police officer her insight is always engaging. Code of Courage is blood pressure raising from page one. A completely gripping, is-this-for-real page-turner. Cantore is a master storyteller with the law enforcement perspective. In more than one of her stories she has made me ponder my view of things and how police officers would see them.

Thank you NetGalley and Tyndale House Publishers for the opporunity to review this inspiring story.
