    Poor spiral binding

The back pages of the book do not stay in the spiral binding and are near impossible to feed back on to the binding. These are the index pages of the book and of course the most important pages.

This hymnal is wonderful! The print is larger and bolder and so easy to see. I don't have to fight with the pages flipping on me as it opens up flat and stays there. I feel like I've won the jackpot with this one!

    The old ways

I have been the church pianist since my early teen days. So nearly 50 years. I disagree with the hard to read notes when the shape notes are used. I find it more difficult to play with the round notes when accompanying a choir or group who sing the true "Bass/tenor/alto /soprano splits. I was raised with the shape notes and understand the purpose. that is a priority when selecting a hymnal for me. Don't get me wrong i can play with round and do from time to time but my priority with gospel music is shaped notes. Not old fashioned just a true mark of a trained church pianist.
