This book has a great timeline and shows the events happening in the days and years before Christ came and during also after. It helps people understand what was the world like back then.Great study guide
This is the year I decided to actually read through the Bible in one year. I have intended to do it before, but haven't actually done it. I am doing it with a chronological Bible. I thought it would be cool to read the Bible in the order that things happened (more or less.) This guide works with any translation, and provides time lines, maps, history, and tons of background (cultural) information. The Bible is divided into nine epochs of time, beginning with creation and the ninth is the church age and apocalyptic writings. It is a great reference book to keep nearby. Almost 6 months into the year, I have really enjoyed reading the Bible this way. I have a new found understanding of many verses from the Bible were either confusing or just never stood out to me before. I will definitely use this book to help me get the most out of my Bible study!
You probably have a favorite Bible that you are already using and taking notes in. It would be nice to be able to use the familiar to get a new perspective. That is where the Chronological Guide to the Bible comes in.This is not just a list that has you hopping back and forth within those 66 sacred writings. It will help you place your reading within the history of the people of God in the various eras of civilization that the Bible encompasses. The Chronological Guide will let you work with what is familiar to you and, you can use more than one translation along with the guide, to get you through those sticky sections. The Chronological Guide is appealing to the senses. I like books that feel and look good when I am studying. The paper is high quality. This is not your boring text book. There are pictures along with informative text. Maps locate the areas you are reading about. What did the fishing boats of Jesus time look like? See for yourself at the beginning of the section about Jesus advent. Want to see Hezekiahs Tunnel. Thats in the Chronological Guide. Artists renditions of the events in the Bible help us focus our thoughts and visualize what it might have been like. This is a book I will keep close to my Bible.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their book review bloggers program.
