4 Stars Out Of 5

We have to realize that all movies are not made in the same time frame, thus, not all original characters can be casted. I was worried that these three episodes wouldn't measure up to the original series, but I wasn't disappointed. I am glad the doctor was the same or I wouldn't have watched it.The new Christy looked more like a 21 year old. I loved Kelly Martin, but thought she was almost too young. I missed Tye Daly because she fit a Shaker woman more then the red head lady in these three series, but her acting and quiet ways were well done. Her costumes should have been more shaker. The Rev. was not has good or handsome as the other character, but his acting was okay.Fairlight was acceptable, but I liked the original better. The fact that she wasn't a strong character and that also, Lundy was a strong character in this next three series made it easier to tolerate. I am glad the men like Jeb, Birdseye Taylor and Opel were the same. My grandchild and I watch this together. She hasn't seen these other three, but she will enjoy them just because the ending is good.I really liked the way you approached the storyline by having her come back and talk to her daughter about her experiences. Also it appeared that the little girl who had Tucoma? in first episodes was back. I am guessing there was 8-10 from original series. I am glad the movies of books were completed.
Unfortunately after seeing the original series the characters don't hold a candle to them. The story is wonderful but it is truly a let down. The actors do a good job but definately don't suit the parts played. Poor Fairlight Spencers eyebrows are so waxed they look penciled in. The mountain children are not "worn" looking enough. Miss Alice doesn't even come into the realm of being able carry the part as well as the original actress.David is wimpy and Christie is sweet but doesn't have the spunk needed.Even if the budget was low they could of tried to have stronger characters. Thank heavens Dr. MacNeil was the original actor.I love the Christy book and the original series but could barely get through these newer videos.Save your money and remember the series as it should be with the original actors.
I was surprised at this movie, because every time I watched or read Christy things before, I was usually bored. This was a delightful change. The characters were interesting, the situations engaging and clean. In one scene they operate on a man, but for me it was a huge plus that they didn't show blood and yuck during it. I could watch without covering my eyes. Very clean, very enjoyable, and two thumbs up.
