What happens on Christmas Eve while children sleep? "Their stockings are filled up with candy and toys, and happy surprises for good girls and boys." A kindhearted man hid a gift in a stocking, long ago. He did it to "remind everyone of the Gift that God sent." Christmas stockings help us remember God's love.
You can find Claudine diving the oceans with Technicolor fish, camel riding in the Sahara, trekking in a jungle populated with wild monkeys, or exploring the African savanna in search of huge elephants. Although adventurous, she sometimes gets scared when coming upon a giant spider or other scary beasts. At that time she heads back to the comfort of her studio, where she draws all the wonderful things she saw and dreams of her next visit to faraway lands.
Fitzysmom5 Stars Out Of 5Review from Rambles of a SAHMDecember 17, 2015FitzysmomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Each year for the month of December I wrap up twenty-four books. Then each night a different child picks one book to open and we will then read that particular book. This year My Christmas Stocking has made it into the mix.
When choosing books for this endeavor I like to find ones that are not only entertaining but educational as well. My Christmas Stocking tells the history of the hanging and filling of stockings in a charming sing song type of verse.
We have a nine month old that hasn't quite figured out that books are not to be eaten so this particular book was chosen with him in mind. It is a board book and while I don't think it would withstand unlimited amounts of drool it is sturdy enough for me to have time to remove it from his mouth before serious damage can be done.
I really like the wonderful story and verses it contains, but the images by Claudine Gevry shouldn't be overlooked. She did a beautiful job of capturing the wonder and delight of the season.
If you have a little one in your household this would make a great addition to your collection of Christmas stories. They will learn all about the tradition of the Christmas stocking while being entertained with words and illustrations.

This story tells the exciting story of St Nicholas and how he wanted to show Gods love to mankind and started leaving presents wherever he went.
What a beautifully written Christmas Eve or St Nicholas Day story to tell to your preschoolers or entire family year after year.

schoolmomredAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful StorySeptember 25, 2015schoolmomredAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0In this lovely board book in the shape of a Christmas stocking, the truth of God's love for His children is beautifully expressed. While children are sleeping on Christmas Eve, stockings are filled with lots of goodies and surprises. It goes on to explain how the tradition was started with Saint Nicholas. It also explains how much Saint Nicholas loved Jesus and how much he wanted others to know that Jesus loved them enough to come down from Heaven to save them.
I love how simply and how beautifully this story is told. Preschool children will love the size and shape while parents and grandparents will love the truth of the message inside the thick, cardboard pages: God loves each of us. It's a simple truth, but a very relevant one.

flakymn5 Stars Out Of 5Love Crystal's books!September 18, 2015flakymnQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I absolutely LOVE Crystal Bowman's books!
What I especially love about her selection of holiday board books is that she touches on common, more pagan celebrations and spins them so that a Christian can use what may have been intended for bad and make it good.
An example is pumpkins. While not a Christian celebration in any sense of the word, Crystal wrote an entire book about pumpkins at halloween and compared them to God taking the "slop" out of us and putting his light inside.
My Christmas Stocking is no different. Crystal illustrates the Christ-centered thoughts behind Christmas stockings. She tells the story of the origin of the stocking and how we can focus on Christ when thinking about putting gifts into a stocking for someone else. These were originally intended to illustrate the gift that God sent.
The books are sturdy and have withheld love from four different children in our family. You will never regret adding these to your library.
While Booklook Bloggers provided me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review, I actually accepted the review to give this book as a gift! We already have one in our library.
