CurledUpWithaBookThe MaritimesAge: Over 65Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Christmas MommyFebruary 1, 2017CurledUpWithaBookThe MaritimesAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3This was a light hearted story of Julie, a single aunt who came to look after her nephews and niece while their parents go on vacation just before Christmas. She has her hands more than full with five young active children as well as trying to prepare for Christmas. This was an interesting book but I found the end a bit confusing by her quick change of heart after being so reluctant to make a commitment all along in both her spiritual life and her love life.
DianeAge: 18-244 Stars Out Of 5Good Christmas novelDecember 29, 2016DianeAge: 18-24Quality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4This book was a light read, but also had a strong message about the real meaning of Christmas and the life of a believer.
The story was funny at times, while still bringing forth a good message about faith, and mentioning issues that can take place within a church and within struggling individuals.
Overall it featured realistic characters, a nice story, and a good model of a Christian family.
I liked it!
AvidReader&Dreamer1 Stars Out Of 5UmmmDecember 15, 2016AvidReader&DreamerQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I was really looking forward to this book and thought some Christmas themed books would be great for getting ready to celebrate. Instead, I kept waiting for the heroine to understand the true meaning and purpose for Christmas! Some may say she did, since she realized she was placing "the joy of Christmas" in things, instead of God, but I saw no real change in her actions to prove she had realized her mistake and wanted to change. Christmas is supposed to be all about celebrating the best gift ever given, our Savior, and I just didn't feel that God was given enough recognition. It felt like Christmas was gifts, Santa, snow, more Santa and then.... what else? Oh yeah, God! Highly disappointed.
Spoiler: the heroine wasn't even able to take the kids to participate in Christmas Angel (buying gifts for needy children) because then she would have to explain why Santa doesn't deliver to those kids... Just another reason not to lie to one's children about where their Christmas presents come from and to focus on the real reason for the season.
