I enjoyed this collection of unique heartwarming stories, which can be enjoyed any time of year. The authors all did a great job at portraying a sweet love story--each connected by a family line and an heirloom brooch that was handed down through the ages from mother to daughter. Especially the three historical tales captivated and touched me. The characters, all so different, seem quite real and delightful along with the intriguing settings and the twisting plot lines. Each novella also includes an element of suspense, which adds to the enjoyment. Readers of various genres should find a fun read here. I received this book as a prize from an author. Enjoyed thoroughly the weaving of the story of an heirloom brooch.

This Christy Award nominated novella collection is written about a silver and amethyst luckenbooth brooch bequeathed through the ages from the Regency era to present day. These novellas are written by four different authors with completely different styles. The result is a very pleasing progression that brings us back to a contemporary setting.

This is a fabulous Christmas novella collection, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. I was familiar with two of the authors, so it was very satisfying to be able to sample two "new to me" authors, as well as appreciating the work of the authors that I am familiar with. My favorite one was Legacy of Love by Kristi Ann Hunterm -- I was delighted by the idea that a woman in the Regency era could actually rise above her low station in life to find love and happiness. Her character Sarah was definitely a favorite of mine because she was very warm, caring, and genuine. Overall, I simply found it intriguing that something like a brooch, locket or other family treasure could have been passed along for so many generations. An inherited object is not a common story theme, so I found that this was a refreshing story line. I was definitely invested in each story and their characters and loved the gorgeous cover. Who can pass up a novel by the delightful Karen Witemeyer, or Christy award winning Becky Wade? One can definitely understand why this novella collection was nominated for a Christy Award, it's just that good.

All of these novellas about a brooch handed down from mothers to daughters can be read and enjoyed on their own, but it's even more fun to have read the companion novels. In "Legacy of Love" we are introduced to the original owner of the luckenbooth brooch, the Dowager Countess of Densbury and her grandson, Randall Everard. Randall is the third son of the present Earl, which means he has no prospects of his own. Readers of the Haven Manor novels will remember Sarah Gooding, who is now companion to the dowager. "Gift of the Heart" by Karen Witemeyer is sixty-three years later. Ruth is a young widow who plans to give the brooch to her seven-year-old daughter, Naomi, for Christmas but gives it as collateral for a loan from Bo Azlin. Bo owns most of the town of Hope Springs, Texas but mostly hides away from people because of a paralyzed arm. Meeting Ruth and Naomi changes his life. "A Shot at Love" by Sarah Loudin Thomas is a companion to her novel The Sound of Rain. In 1958, Naomi's granddaughter, Fleeta is given the brooch by her aunt since both her parents died when she was two. Fleeta wears jeans more often than dresses and would rather hunt than cook. She accepts the brooch only because of the connection to her mother. She certainly doesn't hold to the legend that the owner will find true love; she considers that nonsense. Her plans are to be a gunsmith, not to marry. Then Hank Chapin comes to West Virginia with his boss, Judd Markley, to scope out timber for their company in South Carolina. They stay with Judd's brother and family, who are neighbors to Fleeta and her family. Hank is also a crack shot and meets Fleeta at a turkey shoot. The last novella, "Because of You" by Becky Wade, is present day. The brooch has been passed down to Maddie, a good friend of Britt Bradford (of the Bradford Sisters). For the Mission:Christmas project at their church she is paired

with Leo, the widower of her good friend Olivia. Over two years ago, Olivia was killed by a drunk driver, leaving Leo to raise their baby son, Charlie. Maddie has had a crush on Leo since she first met him, but has kept that hidden, never stepping over the friend boundary. Leo always liked Maddie the most of Olivia's many friends, but never thought of her as more than Olivia's friend. Readers who enjoy romance will not be disappointed with this collection.

I thoroughly enjoyed these four short stories of many generations of women who were all connected by this special piece of jewelry. Written by four different authors each story was unique and very interesting.
