"When I read Cold-Case Christianity, I wished it had been available when I first examined the Christian faith. Cold-Case Christianity for Kids combines the wisdom and excitement of detective investigations with the case for Christianity, and it's written by parents who have been training students for years. If you want your children to be ready to defend the truth about Jesus, this book is essential." - Josh McDowell, apologist and author of Don't Check Your Brains at the Door
"Here's a creative, clear, and compelling primer that will sharpen the reasoning skills of kids. They'll love the detective approach to the evidence for faith!" - Lee Strobel, best-selling author of The Case for Christ
Just Commonly4 Stars Out Of 5Great start to help tweens build the understanding of their faith!November 11, 2016Just CommonlyQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0For the tween fans of investigations and detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity for Kids by J. Warner and Susie Wallace will get them excited to find the case for Jesus! What a fun and creative way to get them involved beyond what the adults tell them! Let them find the evidence and the truth in Jesus without telling them the answers. Cold-Case Christianity guides them using investigative tools by a real detective, along with learning detective lingo and what it means. I also think the drawings in the book adds a little something. I mean, kids' attention span may not be willing to read through a whole page of words! Fun, and highly entertaining, it's a great way to encourage a personal responsibility in finding evidence that supports one's beliefs. Perfect gift!
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the author/publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. This is my honest opinion.
Thrift Schooling5 Stars Out Of 5Great for tweensNovember 4, 2016Thrift SchoolingQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5You might be surprised at how young children are when they begin questioning, struggling and wondering about biblical truths. My oldest son isn't even ten years old and we have already had deep, meaningful conversations about biblical topics that I never even thought about until college. Maybe the reason so many children leave the faith once they finish High School is because so many questions were left unanswered as children and they end up finding what they are looking for in secular, humanistic views. Rather than dismissing my child's genuine questions about the Bible and it's truths, I face them head on. I don't fear his questions because they have led to powerful soul-searching and change already in his young life. This book is an excellent resource for kidsbecause it shows them that it is okay to have questions and that the tools are readily available in the Bible, you just need to search for them.
I find the forensic approach that this book takes intriguing for young tweens and teens. The images in the book are simple and hand drawn which took a bit to get used to at first but once you get into the book, you are so enthralled with trying to figure out the case, it doesn't seem to matter much. The book follows a group of students trying to figure out a case concerning a skateboard. Throughout the case the students are exposed to the process of detective work. This is then related to the need to investigate the Bible to search for the truths that we need to live our lives. I appreciate the way this book presents the Bible and the need to dive in and search it. We are to study to show ourselves approved and today too many people rely on what they have been told and have not searched out the scripture for themselves. This is an excellent book for any tween or teen!
Mrs ARS5 Stars Out Of 5Great teaching toolNovember 2, 2016Mrs ARSQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Cold-Case Christianity for Kids is an engrossing read that shows kids steps for being a good detective. There are two cases that are worked out: one is a fictional case about a mysterious skateboard and the second is the case that has to do with Jesus and if he was real. There was some scripture, but the author/detective backed up the existence of Jesus with historical fact while giving assignments and tips throughout the chapters. At the end of each chapter you received a tool for your detective bag.
My 11 year old son read this book and enjoyed it very much. He especially liked the funny illustrations, he liked the engaging way the author made the detective work relevant to him, and the scripture verses the author used. My son read this book quickly and when he discovered something new he shared his revelations with me.
I think this book is an engaging tool to get kids thinking about the truths of Christ and His existence here on earth. I recommend this book for homeschoolers, youth ministries, or just leisure reading. There is also a free Cadet Academy available online.
I received a copy of this book for free. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
RachelGender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Awesome, thought provoking read for kidsNovember 1, 2016RachelGender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is a fascinating book for any kids in your life. The way it takes scripture and a story and makes kids want to know more about Christ and how to know him really impressed me. I think my kids will like this as well. I was very impressed by the writing and all of the ways this points to Christ and the scriptures. I really like how it makes kids think about Christ and their salvation and also helps them to know what they believe and why. I am very much looking forward to finishing this book with my kids and digging deeper into their faith as well as mine. I enjoyed the cover of the book as well as the pictures and other graphics in the book. I am so impressed with this book and I will now be purchasing the adult version to read as well. I received this book from Litfuse publicity book for free. A positive review was not required.
Cara PutmanIndianaAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great tool for introducing tweens to apologeticsOctober 27, 2016Cara PutmanIndianaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Cold Case Christianity is written as an adventure for tweens. The youngsters are going to be part of a police academy and through the program learn whether Christianity makes sense. Cold Case Christianity has great illustrations that support the story, and the story does a great job of making apologetics approachable for younger kids. I've read it to all four of mine (6 to 16) and they've enjoyed it. There is also a great website that supports the book with downloadable activity sheets for each chapter as well as short videos. The videos are fantastic and should be watched before reading the chapter. This book would be great for homeschoolers, Sunday school classes, and other settings where young people will gather to learn about their faith.
