All4thechallenges5 Stars Out Of 5A Solid Curriculum You Can Keep Simple or Build OnJuly 14, 2018All4thechallengesQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We love this science! It us a complete curriculum that is simple, thorough and is great for already busy schedules. However, it offers a lot of options for additional reading and experiments to add on if the kids are enjoying a particular section, you have extra time or if you are teaching different level students.
Kathy5 Stars Out Of 5Bright Ideas in Science CurriculumMarch 10, 2016KathyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Christian Kids Explore Physics is authored by husband and wife team, Robert W. Ridlon, Jr. and Elizabeth J. Ridlon. Their approach to teaching physics is simplistic: We learn new and complicated things every day---from computer programs and games to new moves in a sport to a new song on a musical instrument. We are always learning. Physics is no different---it takes time and perseverance.
The curriculum presents the concepts of physics from a Christian worldview perspective.
Christian Kids Explore Physics contains 30 lessons and six unit reviews which cover the topic of physics. The curriculum is comprised of the following components:
A Note from the Author
How to Use This Book
The Foundations of Physics: What Physics is All About; Measuring; Famous Physicists; Wrap Up
Matter: The Composition of Matter; Atomic Physics; Molecules and Mass; Solid and Liquid Matter; Gases; Change in States of Matter; Wrap Up
Mechanics: Force; Gravity; Work; Friction; Energy; Wrap Up
Matter in Motion: Motion in a Straight Line; Motion in a Circle; Newtons Laws; Projectile Motion; Momentum; Wrap Up

The curriculum also includes: Glossary, Coloring Pages, Book and Resource List, Answer Keys, Index and About the Authors.
Each lesson unit introduces the topic with a unit timeline, vocabulary words, and materials needed for the unit. The lesson itself is made up of two building blocks: Teaching Time and Hands on Time. I would highly recommend purchasing the resource cd download which contains the reproducible pages in the back of the text.
Overall, we have been pleased with this curriculum as it lends itself to the Classical Education and Charlotte Mason philosophies. Scientific concepts are presented in an engaging and easy to understand manner. This allows the student to build upon their interest through research and scientific experimentation.
ibantpi5 Stars Out Of 5Great!February 2, 2015ibantpiQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This curriculum is exactly what i was looking for. It's quick thorough lessons are perfect for my 8th Grader. It doesn't get so deep into the subject as to turn her off to Physics at her age, but yet, gives a very detailed explanation of all basic information that needs to be covered. Great experiments and easy to understand. The Chemistry book was great, as well. Easily self directed by my daughter.

From the first lesson the kids and I were able to understand terms that had been made to seem so difficult with other textbooks.
We will be continuing with the "Christian Kids Explore" series.
