Author/Artist Review

Author: Deborah J Perez
Submitted: August 13, 2020

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am a wife of a children's pastor and I home-schooled our two children. I am a writer and teacher for children's church. I love to lead children to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

What was your motivation behind this project?  I had a dream about 25 years ago, that soldiers where marching down our streets, Bibles were illegal and we could not mention the name of Jesus. A loud gong would ring out and everyone had to report to a synagogue or else. We were persecuted as Christians and I told my children it's going to be okay because it's better to go and be with Jesus in heaven. I wrote this book 3 years ago and now it is even more relevant as our country is drastically changing from a christian nation.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I hope families will be drawn closer together and closer to Jesus, as they read the scriptural truths in my book Children of the Light. Children will gain a spiritual understanding of what life is all about and an eternal hope that is in Jesus alone!

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I realize more and more that God gave me that dream to warn me and others of what could happen in our country. Also, I am learning to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. I felt driven by the Lord to write this book. It's not about money or fame. I want to support orphans and children who are caught up in the sex trafficking nightmare.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  When I was a child my mother read to me "Pete and Penny Play and Pray" by Dorothy Johnston, which was a collection of real life short stories that taught a scriptural truth and ended with a prayer. We need to get back to the family altar!

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  I pray that Children of the Light will put a flame in your heart for Jesus and His word! Let your light shine bright in this ever darkening world! We can make a difference together!
