GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Old MoneyAugust 11, 2023GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Readers have been introduced to Charity Courtney and her sisters in a previous book. Now she takes center stage as the heroine, and a very worthy heroine at that. I liked the way she was so determined to provide a home and take care of her younger sisters. She was about to give up hope when Hudson Vanderwater appeared in town. Actually, he first appeared in a valley outside of the town of Fairplay, running for dear life to escape a protective cow moose. He might still be there if Charity had not arrived on the scene and scared the moose away. Hudson was a wealthy, powerful man who had taken over running the family empire after the death of his father. Although his family was from old money, he was as comfortable out surveying the land for a new railroad as he was dealing with bankers and other influential people. Charity had never met a man like him, so she had no clue how to handle his determination to help her save her boardinghouse, the livelihood for her and her sisters. She only knew she had to do something, or the bank would take all of the property, including the boardinghouse, for a debt she inherited from her uncle when she inherited the property. She was determined to take care of the debt herself rather than to be beholden to anyone else. But she was close to the point that the only solution available to her would be to accept an unwanted marriage to a man who promised to pay the debt if she would marry him. The ways of the Old West could be quite tricky in terms of property ownership and the place of women. Watching Charity strive to work things out on her own became quite interesting. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

I absolutely loved the romance between Hudson and Charity. He's a gruff businessman and she and her sisters are struggling to save the home they inherited from their uncle. There's romance, adventure and mystery...what more could I want out of a Jody Hedlund book?! As always, it's just perfect and I couldn't love it any more than I do! So looking forward to books 3 and 4 of this series, Convincing the Cowgirl and Captivated by the Cowgirl.

Melissa D.5 Stars Out Of 5A favortie, sweet fairytale Western!July 28, 2023Melissa D.Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Part Cinderella, part Pretty Woman, and a delectable grumpy*sunshine romance that*ll keep you reading late into the night, Jody Hedlund wowed me again with this passionate yet clean second book in the Colorado Cowgirls series! Take a struggling beauty trying to care for her sisters, add a chance encounter with a moose, and the richest man in the country and you have the makings of a spellbinding tale. With close proximity, a rags to riches story, and dangerous villains, I couldn*t wait to see if Charity and Hudson would find their happily ever after.
Charity Courtney*s in trouble. She and her sisters have been working hard to keep their boarding house from foreclosure. Just when she*s reconciled herself to marry for convenience, she rescues a handsome billionaire with gorgeous turquoise eyes. Offering her a reward which she staunchly refuses, she*s surprised when he later shows up wanting to rent her entire boarding house for the exact amount she needs to pay her debts. This gruff railroad magnet has a way of getting under her skin, and when he offers her a fairytale like chance to dress like a princess and go to a charity ball, she can*t resist.
Hudson Vanderwater is used to getting what he wants. Traveling to Fairplay to scout out his next railroad line, he*s beset by an unusual opponent. Rescued by the most beautiful woman he*s ever seen, he*s frustrated when she refuses payment. Striving to find a way of repaying her, he lands on a scheme to rent out her boarding house among other things. Though he*s gruff and demanding, he has a tender heart and hates seeing any woman in distress, especially after what happened to his sister. Charity*s kindness and understanding touch him deeply and he finds himself falling in love, but can she thrive in his upper class world.
This book is one of my favorites! I*m a sucker for a well told grumpy*sunshine romance. Throw in the billionaire aspect and I*m completely sold. Charity*s such a sweet, staunchly good character whom you can*t help cheering for. Hudson, despite his gruff demeanor, is so generous and tender with Charity. Their fiery attraction and tantalizing kisses definitely had me reaching for a fan. (The rooftop kiss! *sigh*)
I loved Charity*s sisters and can*t wait for their stories. I also loved Ronald, Hudson*s Alfred to his Bruce Wayne. He*s the perfect assistant who doesn*t hesitate to offer advice with a twinkle in his eye.
The road to true love is never smooth and there are some definite hiccups along the way including some threatening villains. It*s a swoony, scorchingly romantic Western fairytale that*s hard to put down. It*s one Jody Hedlund fans won*t want to miss. Though it*s the second book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. (Those familiar with the Colorado Cowboys series will enjoy seeing a favorite Sheriff again.) Thanks to the author for the advanced complimentary copy! All opinions are completely my own and voluntarily given. -
E_Espinoza5 Stars Out Of 5A riveting story that's exceedingly romantic!July 27, 2023E_EspinozaCherishing the Cowgirl, by Jody Hedlund, is the second book in the Colorado Cowgirls series. From beginning to end, this historical romance is utterly captivating. Page after page, this novel is filled with plenty of surprises, strong personalities, amorous desire, misunderstandings, and intrigue. Compelling characters, a bit of mystery, and a thoroughly enticing story make this book especially entertaining.
This well-written story unfolds dramatically within the rugged mountains of the Colorado Territory. Financial needs, business arrangements, and stubborn hearts tangle together and challenge the characters predetermined expectations and goals. When disgraceful rumors jeopardize their futures, these characters grow more authentic, vulnerable, and honest with themselves and with each other. The characters are quite moving as they struggle with deep issues of faith, doubt, trust, truth, and forgiveness. Through them, the story becomes genuinely touching and thoughtful.
Cherishing the Cowgirl is a very special novel made even more appealing by important themes such as perseverance, trust, and integrity. It is an engaging story that is exceedinglingly romantic, adventurous, and emotionally-stirring. I eagerly recommend it, and I am more than ready to read the next book in this series!
*I was given a copy of this book by the author. A review was not required. The review I have written is voluntary and contains opinions that are entirely my own. -
BitsymcRed Lion, PAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Swoon Worthy RomanceJuly 27, 2023BitsymcRed Lion, PAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Book 2 in the Colorado Cowgirls series is sizzling, In the beginning how Charity Courtney and Hudson Boylston Vanderwater III met is quite comical. Charity is sweet and innocent and focused on taking care of her sisters, Patience and Felicity, as well as paying off her uncles debt on the boardinghouse she and her sisters run. Hudson is wealthy, arrogant, and handsome and used to doing things his way. The electricity between Hudson and Charity is evident to everyone but they are clueless. Ronald, his manservant has a full time job keeping him reined in. Its a fairy tale story and even though Hudson seems ruthless, his heart is big with a definite soft spot for Charity. Author Jody Hedlund writes swoon worthy romance with just the perfect touch of inspiration. I am enjoying this series. Cannot wait for Book 3.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. The opinions are my own.
