Specksbooks5 Stars Out Of 5AmazingAugust 14, 2017SpecksbooksQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5After reading Moving Target I wasn't sure how Eason would be able to match not only the intensity but the thrill. Yet just pages into Chasing Secrets I was hooked! The plot of this novel was intense, thrilling, and gripping. Every chapter added to the suspense yet Eason always finds a way to weave in a love story to soften the novel. Steven was by far the best love interest I have read in a while, he is a compassionate and a true kind hearted person. Haley has a history that pulls at your heart strings and makes you want to learn more. I thoroughly enjoyed Chasing Secrets and have loved the Elite Guardians series. Lynette Eason has such an amazing writing style I can't wait to read what she writes next.

Lynette Eason, in Book 4 of The Elite Guardians series, captures the readers interest from page one, and just when you think youre going to get a breather from the romance, suspense, and crackling tension, she takes it to a whole other level.
Haley Callaghan has carved a career out of keeping people safe, and she is very good at her job. So its rather disconcerting to find herself on the receiving end of her services. But when danger crosses the water from County Mayo, Ireland, she quickly realizes that shes in over her head.
For Detective Steven Rothwell, returning home to handle some family business has reopened old wounds, and added a few new ones. While investigating several murders which seem to be linked, his path crosses Haleys. Curiosity leads to definite interest, especially when Steven discovers that Haley is at the center of his investigation. A cursory background check on the elite guardian reveals more questions than answers, and Steven does what any Detective worth his badge would do . . . he investigates.
Little does he know that they are both unwitting pawns in a game that is far larger, and with far more at stake, than either of them realize. And while Detective Rothwell is busy putting out fires on the street, he is helpless to do anything about the one burning in his heart.
5 stars for non-stop action!

Elite Guardians #4
By Lynette Eason
Haley Callaghan's early life in Ireland wasn't easy but she has no idea just what she lost years ago and the truth is about to come out. And someone is determined to keep her from learning the truth that has been hidden for over 25 years.
Living in South Carolina, Haley has no idea that her past is about to find her and place her and those around her in the crosshairs of danger. And her job with Elite Guardians places her in enough danger as it is and Haley has just taken on a case that has made her an enemy that has a way of escaping justice. With more than one target on her back, Haley has caught the attention of Detective Steven Rothwell is determined to help her stay safe.
Now Haley just has to survive long enough to discover who wants her dead and rescue those who've been put in danger because she cares. With Steven determined to not lose another person under his protection and the rest of the Elite Guardians backing her up, Haley has a fighting chance to see tomorrow. And Haley has a whole reason to see tomorrow - one she never expected to have.
This is the concluding book in the Elite Guardians series and fans of the series should not be disappointed though it would have been interesting to learn the back story on some of the later additions to the group. Haley's story is interesting and the various potential suspects and the overlapping of personal and professional just adds another layer to the suspense. I can honestly say I was left guessing up to the big reveal.
For readers who haven't previously read any or all of the books in this series don't worry you won't get lost as each book focuses on a different character or characters. Each story builds on the previous one much like one's own life - time passes and new acquaintances enter while others leave. The old and new in your life don't have to meet in order to enjoy (or not) spending time with you. So take the time to get to know Haley as she uncovers secrets from her past.

This book is book 4 in the Elite Guardians series. Haley provides security with the Elite Guardians and helps run a community center for teens. She meets a new police detective Steven Rothwell and he soon becomes her ally as someone seems out to kill her. Haley is contacted by someone from Ireland and must confront a personal tragedy in her childhood. I highly recommend this book! The action never stops and it is hard to put down once you start. BookLoverGender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Well worth the wait! 4.5 starsAugust 10, 2017BookLoverGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Chasing Secrets is the fourth book in the "Elite Guardians" series and one I have been anxiously awaiting since meeting Haley in the very first book! I can very happily say that I was not disappointed in the least! I was drawn in from the first page and hated to put it down - I just had to know what would happen next!
As always, Ms. Eason kept me on the edge of my seat from cover to cover and begging the clock for just "a few more minutes" of reading time. I love her writing style, how her words breathe life into characters and their story, making them seem real and like dear friends by the time the final page is turned. I never want her books to end, despite dying to know if I'm right about "whodunit." I loved the suspense that kept ratcheting higher and higher, causing me to race toward the ending, regardless of my intention to savor this last book in the series. My only "negative" comment is that I found the first few chapters a bit discombobulating, as things happened very quickly and were spread across multiple view points that seemed disconnected. It smoothed out once I caught up and figured out what was going on, but the time line tripped me up a bit, at first.
Of course, I loved the characters, too! I so enjoy how every book in this series stays connected with the same characters. The ladies from the Elite Guardians and their significant others continue to step in and out of each others lives, offering friendship and help along the way. So though this is Haley Callaghan's story (at last!), I was also kept up to date on the couples from the previous books, as well. And I so adored Haley's character! She is strong and bold, with a killer Irish accent, and a heart that pours into others. I loved her compassion and desire to reach out to the hurting around her, even when her efforts were rebuffed. She isn't perfect, but her heart shines on these pages.
Steven Rothwell is one of those heroes that makes me smile - from his rapport with Quinn (from Moving Target), to his desire to care for Haley, to his strength under pressure. He is determined to watch over Haley and anyone around her, while she focuses on caring for others and tries to figure out her past. I loved his support of her, being her sounding board and anchor in a world whirling out of their control. He is driven and stubborn, struggling to accept events in his life, and holding on to bitterness from his past. I appreciated the conversations between Steven and Haley, some revolving around forgiveness and the pain of the past. I saved several quotes from those pages, needing the reminders they held.
Overall, I very much enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense!
